I wasn't aware Castrol Edge is some high performance stuff,. You're way overthinking this...unless you DIY it, I'd look into dealer's coupons and use it - I am sure they have to use proper grade / approvals oil whether it's Mobil, Castrol..etc. I wouldn't take it to Jiffy Lube or one of those places.
No i only taken my car to midas, 1 time dealership, 1 time at another shop and one time my bf did it with his extractor

I decided to go with dealership starting now because either way buying oil myself and filter is expensive regardless im not saving shit.

Dealership pricing was 100 to 120 with taxes anyways and I paid this time 87 for oil and 28 for filter i saved nothing so i returned both oil and filter and went with dealership idea.

I do my own oil changes and it can definitely save you money.

The filters you can get off of Rockauto and they are ~$13 for VW OEM filters (same ones from dealer). I order a 3-4 at a time to save on shipping.

The oil I pick up from Canadian tire. You can usually find Penzoil Euro Synthetic 5W40 5L which has the VW 502 spec for around $35 on sale.

Penzoil also used to run a rebate program where they give you $10 back per bottle up to a max of 4. All in, my oil changes cost me <$50 each.

Since you have trust issues and already purchase your own oil, begin learning to do OICs and the point of contention is no longer a problem.

I get it...now that was just a bad "typo"...should read OCI.
Overseas Citizenship of India? Lol this time I'm just busting your balls. I'm assuming that stands for oil change interval? Never seen the acronym before so I was confused at first

Assuming the OP isn't a troll, let's review:

She doesn't trust the dealership to use the right fluids and filters so she brings her own, effectively adding $50 to the cost of the oil change.
She does, however, trust the dealer enough to pay them to tell her that it has cooler outside and you can see the exhaust plumes.

If she is actually serious, then she needs to either do the oil changes herself (but then we'll get the posts that say "why is my oil pink and so thin?") or find a reliable independent - or her boyfriend can do it using that "vacuum thingie"

While I've seen dealers use bulk oil, I've not seen one use non-OEM filters and VW frowns on dealers using bulk oil that doesn't meet specs - ask me how I know (or better yet, ask the ex-GM and ex Service Manager at Audi of Rockville)

I think the OP is a troll and/or has issues. If not she’s simply argumentative and beyond annoying. Only the third person I’ve added to the ignore list.

Oil and filters must be very expensive in Canada. I get K&N oil filters on Amazon for $6.
