Servicing - Inspection/Oil Change

So I've had my car 4 weeks now, according to the service book it says it had an oil change 1k miles ago. It's suddenly popped up and reporting it requires an inspection in 4000 miles/17 days.

What's the difference between an inspection and an oil change, surely the inspection should have / could have been done when it had an oil change ?

First thought is they just forgot to reset the timer; I'd give the dealer a buz and see what they believe you car needs.

I would be a bit miffed if I bought a car and 1 month later it needs a service...

Yep, they have confirmed they have forgot to reset the inspection and can i "pop" in and they will sort it, apparently on the MK7 you cannot simply reset service lights using the dashboard/key sequence. I live 45 miles away so i think i will have to resort to my trusty VCDS.
