Does anyone have tips for running down a couple of WRXs. I finished 28/123 and 16/87 in PAX but 3 and 2(one wrx didn't show) in STH. Assume I just need to keep working on driver mod but ugh

Work with a better co-driver, find out where you are loosing time with data acquisition.

This is your first real season racing autox?

AWD versus FWD?

Better start driving to more regions to get more drive time than you do locally.

I did have one of the WRX drivers codrive when his broke he beat me by 2 hundreds of a second

I have though about getting some data tracking might do that instead of more car mods

Autocrossing a FWD is far harder than RWD or AWD.

You have to trail brake to get it to rotate and use the throttle judiciously on exit. If you want to kill your ego, autocross a FWD. If you want to feel like a rockstar, buy a Miata.

I would recommend a setup like SomoStorm for your data logging. Sure everyone has their own wiz bang preference, but that’s designed for autox. You have a very simple interface, and the ability to view your runs almost immediately after you finish. Others seem a little too clunky, or need more user inputs to be able to do that.

And good luck chasing AWD cars.

What's your solostorm setup I have looked at but it's pricey maybe a good Christmas present lol

Yea I mean fwd is hard but I was second or third fastest fwd on course only losing to some smf guys and they don't count lol

What's your solostorm setup I have looked at but it's pricey maybe a good Christmas present lol

I started with the RaceCapture MK2 setup, but that was way more complicated than I needed it to be. It’s better suited for track, and GoatAutomotive is picking that up.

A limiting factor is SoloStorm only runs on an Android device. I picked up a Samsung tablet for less than $100 to use.

If you want video, you’ll need some type of camera. The GoPro 3 I think is the lowest that can be used.

The Qstarz is the 10hz gps receiver, which is very accurate.

Then the SoloStorm App. The developers are very responsive, and listen to their users on feedback.

If you’re interested in seeing some outputs, like throttle, rpm, IAT’s you’d need something like the OBDLink MX+ Scan Tool for that.

The track log overlay and the side by side video views you can view between runs is very helpful. If someone else is using one, you can also share your log files, and overlay them with your runs. It’s a great way to see where they’re faster than you are.

Then the one click video export is super easy to use as well, and gives you this product:

I know there’s other options out there, I tried a few. But SoloStorm has been value added, and is purpose built for autocross.

XA, not STH but whatever.

Was a really painful course to drive, but I managed to finish 3/135 in raw time among a gaggle of tiny cars. (8th in pax, and 1/5 in XA).

I honestly think the IS20 would've been better for this course, but it's going to take some getting use to for the IS38 weak-ish transient response (compared to the 20)

I tried to play my run against yours and your IS38 trounced my IS20 Alltrack at every acceleration point. Your IS20 did too, so maybe this just means my IS20 Alltrack is slow, as is it’s driver

Got a little wet and wild this past weekend. I went from 70+ in pax in the morning to 27 in pax in the afternoon when it dried out

Looks like I'll make a come-back this fall for the AZ season with a new tune (APR Stage 1 93 octane high torque) and Yokes.
