Saw a strage GTI yesterday. Maybe MK8

So I live in PA near DE. I was going to home depot to grab supplies and I saw a GTI getting onto the I95N highway with odd fog lights. I'm pretty sure Mk8 GTI is not out yet so it kinda baffled me.

The thing that stood out the most was the fog lights, it wrapped around the bumper. I found a pic and it looked just like this. What do yall think? Maybe some aftermarket part? or maybe someone was testing a mk8 idn

This! I see these everywhere in the bay area. In fact, I see more E-golfs than regular golf, GTI and R's combined.

I guess it might have been a GTE, I know for a fact I saw the hatch and it said GTI or GTE couldn't tell from 60' or whatever. I don't think it was the egolf tho as the rear emblem doesn't look like what I saw. Cool fogs they are different. Thanks

Likely a Polo GTI. I've seen a couple in the canyons here in CA. Someone told me that the VW scene in Mexico come up to the canyons here sometime and they have Polo's.

Based on the article at the link below, the picture looks to be render of the mk8 Golf GTI from last year.

If the car the OP saw resembles that car I’d say it’s not a Polo GTI - the Polo GTI doesn’t have those ‘C‘ shaped daytime running lights in the bumper; those daytime running lights were definitely a signature of the mk7 Golf GTE. The render in the first post has those small triangle shaped windows between the A pillar and the leading edge of the front doors - another feature of the Golf (the Polo doesnt have those).

I know, I was just sharing my experience to show that it's possible that it was a Polo. Just don't know any reason for someone to DRIVE from Mexico to Philly.
What car he saw is still a mystery to me though.

It had to be an e-Golf, which is a rarity in this area. Rare enough that I to would probably be confused if I saw one on the streets. I don't think I've ever seen one except for one a dealer lot.
