"Just saw this thread -
They are only meant to be used on a 4-point lift. Jacking the car with a floor jack from one of these points can bend the underbody.

And, yes, you can buy them from other places, such as worldimpex or probably your local VW dealer with the part numbers, 8N0 804 583 and 8N0 803 855.

If you just want to use a floor jack, I would recommend something like this to lift from the pinch welds, or just do what I did and cut a slot into a hockey puck." Just grabbed that off of a thread on vwvortex.

When I get home I will have to look under.
I would think the pinch welds are connected to the locations these lift pads insert. So flex would occur at either location.
Plus most do not like the pinch weld locations due to being weak. I have two pinch weld rubber lifts so have several options.
Will look into it more and ask the dealer mechanics once I get to 30,000 miles.
I would think chassy flex would occur coming out of my Mother Inlaws driveway.
At the end it is so deep I have to take it at an angle due to being lowered.
I can feel the car rock on it's axes at one point. I would think this would flex more than a Jack.
Thanks for info, will keep it in mind as I search more info.

I got a couple of jack pads for my hydraulic jack and have grooves cut in so the pinch weld would fit in and bottom out. I originally thought it might be better if the groove was deep enough so that the weight of the car would be on the resting on the metal on either side of the pinch weld as there was more surface area but looking at the factory jack and having done some research it seems the weight was meant to be on the weld. I figure I'll jack it up that way and put my esco jack stands on the reinforced area where the suspension attaches.I can't say for sure the unibody can be bent the way you did it or if you'd be able to see it with the naked eye but I have read that in a few places.

My understanding is that these cars have a much improved chassis stiffness over the mk6. Which says a lot since I could almost change one sides tires by lifting from just the front jack point of my mk6 golf tdi. Well I could have, but "safety first" got me after working at a car dealer and seeing what happens when a car isn't properly secured to a lifts jack points.

I'm not an expert just going by things I've read. Those jackpoints jack stands Jay Leno endorses look pretty sweet. Not cheap though.

You need a Quick Jack so you can utilize all four jack points simultaneously! :D

The 5000 series works quite nicely for MK4s and MK7s, as well as the occasional Passat or Audi.

I installed Audi jack pads on our MK4 TDI wagon and it was NOT happy using only one pad to lift it up - I think I added over a half inch of ground clearance under the left front corner so watch closely the first time you lift your GTI! The pads work great for jack stands once she's airborne. I'm sure the MK7s are more robust but just in case...

Greetings from Chattanooga! Bought my '15 2 dr GTI S model from Lynn about a month ago. Great experience with the dealership so far. Happy to read through this thread, especially knowing that it's close to home. Would love to see your car in person and pick your brain a bit. Let me know when you're back in town? BTW, I know of many, many incredible roads in the area. Being a training road racer (cyclist), we hit these climbs and decents on a regular basis. Would love to show you some roads you may not have experienced yet. Are you on the FB MK7 group?

Glad to hear your dealings with Village VW went well.
2 door. Looked at one up close earlier in the year and the 2 door is a nice looking car. The door is so much longer.
Lynn does very well. She is very efficient and knows the system.
Sounds like there are several MK7 forum members in the Chattanooga area.
Would be nice to see other cars. I do not see many in my area. Drove close to Chattanooga tonight coming back from Alabama. Come up 59 to 24 and up thru the Sequatche Valley going home. Fun drive. Would be nice to meet, eat and drive in Chattanooga. Good haul for me and the 1 hour ahead is fun to deal with. I am not on face book. If you have a group that meets let me know. I know Village has something going on in October I think. Lynn mentioned it the last time I was in. In 4,000 miles I am due service again. Had hoped to make it to 2017. Drive it too much.

Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 Ultra High Performance Tire

This has been mentioned before in the Forum but I could not locate the thread. Just some info on a lower cost tire that I have heard good things about. To me the tire casing looks much like the Bridgestone RE-11.
If you want a summer tire but not the cost of a Michelin or Bridgestone take a look. Tire Rack also has info.

That's very cool!
The Michelin Pilot super sport is about $40 less for a set of 4 225/40r18s though.

Somehow I am missing this.
Tirerack
Michelin pilot super sport. $185.73 each. $672.92 for 4
Firestone Firehawk Indy 500. $97.57 each. $390 for 4.

How is Michelin cheaper?
How could a Michelin be less that a Firestone in any tire?
They are not in same price range.

Maybe I am missing it or someone is having a fire sale.
