This is the listed parts for 2017 R.. The same kit used to be listed for both GTI and R I don't know why the listing changed but that 4 puck does work in my GTI. Has been for 2,000 miles now Why would the 529542 kit be listed for both if the pressure plate was different?

Kit is currently being installed. Hope to be able to drive it this afternoon. Only 25K miles on the car, but found the RMS leaking already (which is why I had an aftermarket RMS kit on hand). OEM flywheel looked good, probably could have reused it, but had a new one on hand so having it changed out as well.

Looking forward to hearing results!

The shuddering is significant if you don't rev to over 1500 rpms to start the car moving (probably need closer to 2000 rpms). Pedal feel is heavy, which was expected. Also have a lot of creaking/popping coming from the front end, so taking the car back on Monday so they can look over everything. The weird part is that there was no shuddering or front end noise when I first left the shop. Not sure what to think about that.

Only 40 miles so far though, so check back in a few weeks.

Significantly, but got to break it in and see where it ends up. The worst part is reversing into my garage. The car shudders like crazy unless you are brave enough to reverse launch the car and hope you don't hit anything.

I want to get 1500+ miles on it before I make a final conclusion and decide to try something else.

Dang, not what I wanted to hear. I think we have another user here which got this installed today.

Had this installed today, all went well and as planned according to the installer.

Break in period recommend to be 1k miles

Pedal is noticeably heavier, being told this will begin to lighten up around 500 and will settle in between 800-1000 miles.

Engagement is definitely quick and firm. Off the line and 1-2 is a learning curve. All other gears feel great. There are some slight grinding like noises off the line and the 1-2 shift also. Put 130 miles on my ride home and reached back out to the installer about this. He said this is normal and part of break in. That they should subside by the time break in is complete.

I stuck with the dmf and it is quiet. I think I may have notified a very faint noise in neutral, not on the clutch, but no where near what a smf sounds like.

Also had the rms replaced and a ss clutch line done at the same time.

I will follow up with another review at 500 miles and 1000.

The pucked clutches I've driven in the past behave the same way. You have to really slip the clutch because it's so grabby, then as the material heats up, you start to hear groans or honking like noises.

To clarify, the front end noises are not related to the clutch. It sounds like something in the suspension, mounts, or subframe that clunks/pops when I hit any type of uneven surface on the road.

The grinding noises were pretty much the same from first pulling away from the shop as they were 130 miles later.

I assumed you want to skip the clutch less with the pucked design?

Hmm.. agree, pops sounds like subframe or suspension related.

Did you have any leaking out of the RMS?

No regrets?
