So after about 10k miles on this clutch, here are my feelings/findings:

  • This thing squeaks no matter what (letting it grab, starting from a stop, etc), but I think this is a given with the material.
  • Terrible for stop and go traffic.
  • Never slips even after RAL twenty times and NLS lol.
  • Sometimes feels like it's broken when going from a stop it has this weird noise and feeling, I dont know how to describe it.
Right now I'm looking into my other options, for where I live in CT now its honestly an excellent option and I wouldn't switch it out, but I'm moving to Canadistan (GTA) soon and need to find something that can take a beating, but provide a little less noise. I know I'll never be able to go back to something like the Sachs full face because of my power and driving style. (at least 2-3 pulls a day with RAL).

If anyone wants to chime in I would appreciate it, tired of spending money going through clutches lol

Go with the full face. All the good manners, none of the noise. But I don't RAL or NLS mine so I dono how it will hold up. It doesn't slip at 34 psi.. haha.

Yea I had the full face, it was great honestly. I just wanna be sure that it'll actually hold with all the features yk.

Mainly RAL and NLS because thats the cool stuff

NLS should be pretty easy on the clutch if it's setup right.

I am on my second ACT clutch. First one was their 450tq rated kit. It had a short 60k mile life because my wife thought second gear was first. I now have the 550tq clutch kit from them. It has around 1000 miles on it. Some noise at idle but its not intrusive. Great feel, engagement and overall action. The sweet spot is about an inch off the floor and that is where I like it. I have not tried RAL with this clutch yet, but the first one did well with it.

I've been running the 4 puck as a daily for about 2-3 years. The squeaks only happen after the car is warmed up, doesn't bother me really. I've gotten used to it so much that it feels like oem to me lol. I bought it from FCP so this is the last clutch I will buy for this car and continue lifetiime replacements.

You running the DMF with it or the SMF? As I learn to slip the clutch at 2k+ rpm it starts to get more tolerable. Still learning

I'm using a DMF. It might act different on a SMF, but with a DMF it's great IMO. It was able to hold the power of a Vortex XL on E40 @32psi, of course that is before I converted back to IS20.

Yea I have the dmf as well. I just can’t get going from a stop without the grinding noise or the squeak. Wondering if it’s a skill issue, actually revving to over 2k and slipping the clutch while it’s hot makes it much worse lol

As far as squeaking, you can't do anything about it because it's made of ceramic and will squeak similar to brake pads. But I as far as the grinding, I know exactly how you feel. For a while I was getting that grinding noise, or chatter is what I thought it was....I learned to elimiate it by not applying too much throttle when releasing the clutch. Once you get used to it, man is it a nice clutch!

I'm up to 40k miles of daily use now. Mine doesn't really make a squeaking noise that I can hear but it definitely makes the grinding noise if I don't use enough revs when starting out in first gear.
