I purchased the items in the link I provided. Prior to this I saw a store selling the full trims with the lights installed, but I have a 2020 7.5 GTI, as per my avatar, and I didn't really want to lose my factory trim look, and I didn't need a set of 5.

So when this version of just the three parts showed up I was very interested, and even though they could not provide instructions I decided to purchase to give it a go, as my lighting mods will really finish off the car. This one and the rear door sills.

Mind sharing pictures of what you received?

Will you still have the waranty on the car if you do mod like this ? I mean the dealers are strict. At least here in EU.

Seems like the only difficult thing about this retrofit is messing with Component Protection and adapting the new BCM to the car, apart from that its just running wires and connecting them.

Removing the factory Trim that has needs to be replaced with the one containing LEDS is pretty simple, you remove the door panel from the car and the Trim is help with clips and some melted plastic that holds it tight in place, you just need to drill out the plastic and pry the trim carefully, the hole for the wires going to the LEDS in the door panel is already there on all door panels.

@Reaper1 Did you retrofit this? Which did you use? Did you change BCM or just hooked it up to the existing door loom?

I Retrofitted only the two front ones, and they are connected to the door control module, If they were the RGB then it would require way more wiring and a new BCM.

thanks.

Bought both of the trim pieces from an aliexpress seller, needs one wire that goes to the door control module Pin 8 on the 32 pin connector, and one ground.

can be controlled from the menu.

I have very bad experience with this seller from the time I had an Audi. He said LED was genuine while it was cheap Chinese knockoff. He also has a very low rating on AliExpress.
Do these lights actually light up something or they just look cool!

True, Worst seller I've ever bought from, Takes weeks to ship and doesnt reply to anything I Send him.

But At Least, When it arrives, It All works!

they do light up, and I Can control the brightness via the menu.

There shouldn't be a problem, the usual thing with warranty issues if there is a concern for your mod is you need to remove it and see if the issue still occurs, IE and electrical issue in this case. Then again, I would also research if the issue has happened before on stock cars, to show the issue is known and not unique to your car.

My drivetrain will be stock for a long time, but in the past I have tuned/etc my new car and there was no problem. I don't want to take chances with this car, but imagine if I did put a Stage 1 or even 2 tune and the water pump died? Do you think I'd let them blame the mods? That's how it is in Australia anyhow.

This is what I recieved in my package. It's the RGB version as the other one was white, so I will need to set it to red to match the fronts. If it works out maybe I'll change the fronts one day and have full RGB, but I think red will be fine all around.

For me, who knows very little, it's a lot more pieces than I can imagine what to do with, but I was seeing a guy about my other car who does car stereos and he expressed interest in helping me with this.

Any ideas/advice welcome.

There are three new strips for the door, one for rear left, rear right and above the glove box.
