Well curiosity finally killed the cat and I had to know some stats regarding my ricerburnery style of car ownership and how that has affected me.

I did my best to tally up purchase/sell costs, money invested in mods/maintenance because I keep that pretty well tallied, and what was roughly made in parting out on all of my cars.
Note I did recieve 4 of my cars for free because my parents bought me them or they were inherited. but short of the fiero i didn't really make anything on any of them.

Why is the amount invested on the cobalt and jets positive instead of negative? Were those the gift cars?

So that was fun to come up with.

Now since I havent SOLD my current two cars yet I'm not really sure how to include them in my stats, also I just bought them, so I'm leaving them out of some of the fun stats that follow:

Amount of cars owned in total: 15
Total $ spent in purchasing cars: $153,740 including the 2 most recent, or $128940 for previous cars !! wow! Obviously its not like I could have just bought an audi R8 with this $ or something since most every car is bought with $ from selling the last, but its a neat figure to see.
Total $ in selling cars: $128,100 - not TOO bad, that means on average I am actually almost SPOT ON with the purchase price!
However it's downhill from here.
Money spent simply on REGISTRATION (getting plates, paying taxes) and shipping the car to me (as needed, or flying out to get it): $9600. Thats a whopper of a waste of money, though, over the course of some 16 years.
Amount spent/wasted in mods, upkeep and repairs: $64716 !! holy shit :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
However I have sold a fair amount though many cars go away with many mods on them: $28400 not too bad, so about 50% of what I spent I made back. Probably lots lost in the spent portion that I didn't keep track of but overall it can't be too far off.

Now this all means, in total, I have DEFINITELY lost a grand total of $46,756, over the course of 250 months (16 years). That means, on average, I have lost a mere $187.00 per month, something like the price of a cheap car payment monthly.
This all simply blew my mind and I am now convinced that riceburnering is the way to go. If nothing else I'm pretty comfortable with what my homewrecker of a hobby costs
Ninja edit:
I suppose I should really start counthing this sort of # since the first car i bought with my own $ and started dumping $ into, and if thats the case its really more of an average of $309/month lost on my money with all things considered.

A few more fun stats
Total combined months of owning any car (some were held at the same time): 201 months
Longest ownership
: Cobalt SS @ 72 Months, sold it 2 days after paying it off lol
Average ownership: 21 months
Shortest ownership: The 2007 Jetta
(sorry Jay) but some come close
Total miles driven (roughly) 223993 miles! Also I have had work trucks since I was ~20 years old and have probably driven at least another 150,000 on top of that. But those are not technically mine and I don't pay for them so theres that.
On average price of $4/gallon and ~22 MPG (maybe), that means i've spent upwards of $60,000 on gasoline!! So it took about 16 years to spend somewhat close to what my average yearly take home pay is.
Most miles driven:
65000 on the cobalt! What a ride!
Average miles driven during ownership: 18666
Average miles driven since I started ricerburnering on my first gti: 11856 miles per car average.

good catch on the cobalt, that changed the outcome of some stats, i lost 16k in modding that thing.
Made money on the jetta because i bought a second jetta and parted it out and sold it so thats how that one worked out, roughly speaking

Since you have to reverse that, it essentially adds $32k to the amount of you've lost. Does your wrap up post include that corrected figure or not?

Edit: Yes, looks like it does.
