well i didn't have much time for everything else today, i only got one of the rear struts in 🤣 stupid captive nuts with the stupid little strut nubs you gotta hold onto threw me for a ride

did finish the new diverter valve and fixed the roof leak.

ISSUE

In dropping the rear control arm down to replace a strut, i inadvertently broke what i think is a ride level sensor thing. tiny little ~3" plastic arm that connects to the control arm. whoops. what is this part called?

and now i got bunch of issues!

brakes control module codes:
steering angle sensor 00778
lateral acceleration sensor 01423
longitudinal acceleration sensor 01279
sensors 1/2 for brake pressure
brake control module 01316

esp, tpms, abs lights are on the dash.

i may have somehow switched a code/adaption looking for the channel to open the rear calipers. never found it. but i worry i switched something somehow on obdeleven and that caused it all because the codes all read 'no or incorrect basic setting/adaption. any pointers on how to un-fuck myself?

car drives fine, though i wasn't able to initiate any hazard scenarios.

i can't find the ad.

i keep thinking about buying cheap but valuable cars to at least flip or partout lol

like that car, if it can get running for who knows what, maybe it needs the head to be rebuilt for ~3-5k, is worth around 14k as it sits

Some wins today with the help of my friend from hardcoreeuro!

Flyshed and relearned the transmission, feels sooo much better now. Doesnt slip or do any coofy shit.

Fixed my broke ride height thing on the rear control arm

Coded to release rear electronic parking brake to do rear brakes

Coding should be sent from rosstech to replace whatever i screwed up in obdeleven lol and should resolve the dash lights i must have screwed up messing around in obd11

Got to detail his brand new f150 with the coyote too so that was fun. He already dropped it on some serious coilovers. Thing was hilarious to drive.

welp.

bearing no big surprises this 2014 (B8.5) S4 will be mine tomorrow.

6 speed, 'panda' leather interior, south bend clutch, stage 1, heat exchanger upgrade. sounds like a pretty clean car with a decent service history and no imminent issues, which is more than i can say for my last several cars, if not every car since my first B8.5 lol

i mean really; even the not-well-cared for, city car 2010 b8 i had with ~180k miles and a funky mechatronic unit wasn't that bad. outside of the on-its-way-out mechatronic unit it probably needed a pcv, i think there was a minor leak developing somewhere, and likely was ready for some control arms. i sold it cause my wife just didn't really like the car, and wasn't worth putting the $$ into the transmission.

will it need nothing? certainly not. but at least, 6 speed cars by default have less issues than the dsg's, the b8.5 is better mechanically than the b8, the main few things that fail (pcv, water pump, thermostat, engine mounts) can be replaced by myself in a late night. the engines don't just grenade.

control arms, if and when those are needed, will be a biiiitch though. oh and the cats tend to clog in higher mileage cars when abused. those get pricey

i'm excited :D
