Red GTi badge

Hi,
Had a lengthy search but can’t find it.
im sure I read somewhere here that the red PP badge wasn’t ever fitted to a particular colour GTI, I think grey???
have I dreamt it?

In 2015 the red GTI indicated a PP (performance package) car.

There was talk in following years that the red badge might have been put on non PP cars. When PP was made standard not sure if these cars all had red. But at launch for USA red meant one thing.

I don’t think the red GTI front grille / tailgate badges were dependent on the car’s colour. Some owners did buy red vinyl overlays for the standard chrome GTI badges from the likes of Badgeskins or EZ Mods (other colours were also available).

They started putting them on MY2019 since PP equivalent became standard.

I thought all MK7s with Red Badge means PP while all 7.5's received red badges as standard?

No, I had a 2018(7.5) without the red badge

The NAR 2018 GTIs were kinda weird that they didn't have the red GTI badging but the car has performance pack.

I added a red overlay to the GTI grill badge on my 2018 but mainly because I think GTI emblems should be red anyway

Haha, I did the reverse, added black to cover the existing red.
But I do agree still - red is the heritage of GTI/rabbit imagery to me.

The heritage is why I did it. Plus it matched the front end a lot better.
