I really want one of those

Yeah one of the guys just purchased a used MkV R32 and those have the climatronic which obviously uses a sensor right there, so you can't have the tray. He had a Rabbit so when I saw him post it for sale on our local forum, I PM'd him immediately.

I like the dash tray but what about the vent that used to be there? does it still blow air up underneath it? Could the hot air be warm enough to warp it??

Haha definitely not. And I never even routed the air up there. I'm pretty sure my t-stat is bad so my heat pretty much sucks. I'm waiting until I replace the timing belt to replace it all at once so I don't have to buy G12 coolant two separate times.

I'm way OT.

Haha, I'm not going to cheap out with something like that. I'm not sure how good it is for the heater core. I mean I think you need less than 2 gallons, so ~$30 bucks worth? If I'm already spending that much for everything, that's chump change.

mixing G12 with any other coolant will result in serious problems. My buddy mixed prestone with G12 in his MkIV. the result was a grey sludge that caused major overheating and a blowout between cylinder 2 and 3. Now he needs a new head on his 1.8t.

I didn't mix the g12 with anything. My coolant was completely empty and I filled it with peak all makes/models/colors mix. Is that bad?

I really hope not. I've noticed on hot days my rad fans stay on like 15 mins after I shut the car off and I dunno of it's due to the coolant or not.

I'd change it out ASAP. VW specifies only G12 to be used for a reason. I didn't realize it was that serious, but I wouldn't take chances.

even if your coolant was empty, there was still some in there.... unless you did a complete flush.

I would highly recommend running distilled water for a few days, draining it, and running a second or third batch to make sure you don't have any sludge. Then, buy some G12.
