Rear Wiper Blade Stuttering/Juddering

Hi All,

Looking some advice please, I've got a MK7 2013 Bluemotion TDI.

The rear wiper starts to stutter/judder after 2/3 clean sweeps. Even in heavy rain.

The wiper blade is brand new, the arm is in good condition.

Any thoughts? Possibly be the wiper motor?

Is the new blade from decent brand? I used to have problems on my old Corolla with super cheap Costco/Michelin blades, after a month they would be shit

Hi mate,

I've swapped all the blades over to Bosch, they've only been on for about a month.. I doubt the motors going as it functions as it should.. I feel like someone's tightened the bolt on the arm too far and it's tight against the windscreen.. any thoughts?

@MK7 Mepa; a ‘dirty’ screen or use of certain rain repellent products on the screen can cause the wiper blades to judder.. Also, I’ve found that new blades can sometimes feel ‘sticky’ to the touch, so the blades may need cleaning.

Ensure your screen - and wiper blades - are scrupulously clean; either use a good quality glass cleaning product, or alternatively you could try white vinegar which should work. If that doesn’t work, then you could try a clay bar or clay mitt.
