Rear View Mirror Question

So I got this OE auto dimming rear view mirror I took off my '19 Golf R when I upgraded it to the Homelink mirror. The part# is 3G0857511AM9B9. Anyone happen to know if I can put it into my '17 GTI SE, plug the rain sensor connector into it and have it work? Thanks in advance.

Did you ever have any luck with this? I bought this same mirror on ebay for $10 and now I am just trying to source a wiring harness. I have the rain sensor as well. Thanks!

If you car has auto-dimming mirror from factory, then yes, it would work plug and play. If not - you have to add two additional wires for the auto-dimming to work.

The mirror that was in my GTI when I bought it (used) was the manual, flip style mirror. I do have rain-sensing wipers, but no auto dimming mirror.

perhaps this might be of interest:

The connection to the BCM is the pin that supplies power to the right-side reversing light bulb (M17) -this stops the mirror from darkening when the car is reversing. The same happens when the interior light is switched-on.
