Sorry for my terminology, but that’s all I know them by! 😂

weird one, but I have one that will not stay up! Super quick fix, just didn’t know it was common or not?

Check it out!

Seems to be a somewhat common issue. Currently have it on my front passenger side handle.

If you look closely at a working one, you'll probably notice the one that flops down is missing the spring that holds/returns it. Ended up ordering a whole new grab handle, but have yet to swap it out for the offending unit. Thing maybe just pulling the spring would be easier. :ROFLMAO:

These handles suck to remove. They were the worst part of removing the headliner, by a considerable margin.

I "fashioned" a couple of cheap Harbor Freight picks into a pair of tools that works okay. This was after I bought the tool VW calls out in the manual, VAS6427. That tool works great for the clips in the sun visor/forward headliner area... but no way is it useful for the handles. The handle itself is in the way when trying to use it.

Same thing happened to me! Both passenger side handles front and back. Do you think it's covered under warranty? It looks like the spring has to be loaded inside the handle itself, but its impossible to fit in.

Called dealer today, they cover it! As long as it wasn’t caused by an outside influence or anything!!

Nice, having had those handles out of the car I didn't see a way to replace the spring. My thought when the VW tool didn't work was to remove the "handle" part of the handle for clearance, couldn't figure out how to do that either, haha.

Both front handles on my car failed shortly after purchase. The retaining pin that runs through the spring must have been too short. It came out, allowing the spring to shift and fall out. Both were replaced under warranty.
