Scored one of those hard to get 8" no-nav MIB II displays (7C0919606) from eBay UK for under $300 USD. My friend in Scotland will be shipping it to me shortly.

Found the GTI 8" trim (5G1819728AFDAR) for $119 shipped on e-acca.

Will be a nice upgrade with the new Carplay updates and my crappy eyesight.

Also picking up a CSS muffler locally from forum member SonicBloom. Good guy who took me for a spin in his car so I could hear what it sounded like. It was also nice to talk mods with him and feel how upgraded engine mounts felt in the car. Thanks for that SonicBloom.

Will update when installed.

Bump for oil fill tube install.

Also got this in and waiting for the trim! tempted to go without the trim for a little while just so I can get it in the car LOL.

Been a year, haven’t done a lot but I realized I never put up anything on the 8” display upgrade. Couple other odds n ends here too.

What's the part number on your display? There's some really good deal on the "glass" aka non matte displays, but I really like the matte display!

7C0919606 - Won’t be cheap if you can find one and I did pretty well, all things considered.
I ended up ordering this one via a friend in Scotland who scored it off an eBay UK listing I found that woulnd’t ship to the US. The seller was a parts wrecker called “Synetiq”. I paid him ~$400 USD for the whole thing, not including the faux carbon 8” screen trim which I sourced elsewhere, which included some extra for his trouble.

Car is at the dealer getting a new head (at least thats what they’ve ordered) at 37xxx miles due to bad leak down result in cyl 3.

It went in late afternoon of 11/4 and VW approved the repair 11/10.
Unexpected.

Glad to hear the repair was approved. Hopefully its the issue.

Thanks. I have no idea where they are in the process in terms of if they have even torn anything down to investigate to ensure it’s really the head. I think they are only going off the leak down results.

Whatever happened with your rear suspension creak? How’d you solve?

Ah yes, like many others, I turned to dry teflon spray (I used the Blaster product - https://blastercorp.com/product/dry-lube-with-teflon/) on all of the bushings for the front and rear suspension. I’ve been hitting them every 6 months or so and it definitely keeps it quiet. Coupled with my recent discovery of using the Shin-Estu Silicone Grease for the door seals/felts to stop the car from sounding like a creaky old boat, both of our MK7s will be quiet!

Car went in 11/3/2020 for a suspected failed cylinder 3 based on doing a compression test prior to tuning. It also had a leaking cam cover/cam cradle seal.

VW replaced the whole motor after ordering a head and finding no apparent issues with the old head.

Car was returned to me 12/22/2020 but it seems they skipped aligning the car even though they had the whole front end torn apart so I went back 12/23 for them to do alignment. Seems good.

Now, to break in the motor and check for any issues before i tune it.
