So today I was driving down the highway and shifted gears at some point and the clutch felt funny, like it didn’t spring back up they way it normally does. Oh well it felt fine after that so I chalked it up to wearing flip flops. Fast forward to slowing down to take the exit and the clutch pedal goes to the floor and doesn’t come up 😖

I managed to get it pulled back up and it’s fine for the rest of the drive. Backing into the garage though, it was slow to return to normal position and the engagement point was SUPER low. So low in fact it was struggling to get into gear. Got it all sorted, and I checked the brake/clutch fluid which seemed to be fine. Not right at max, but not much below it, maybe 1/4”.

After some quick googlefu I am suspecting either the slave cylinder/TOB. It doesn’t seem like crank walk to me because there were no grinding noises or anything. Just the clutch weirdness. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. I am not sure what to do here. Thanks

Check your bleeder block, I've seen even oem ones fail and cause this issue. If that's not it then I would think slave cylinder/tob

Ok I did do the delay valve delete or whatever it is. It would be a nice surprise if it was that. Thanks

Funny enough occasionally i am getting trouble shifting into gear. Also sometimes when i get it into gear, they're a sight lurch. Clutch feel is still fine though. I'm dreading it being the slave cylinder. Hopefully it's just a leak somewhere.

Dude.. these results are unreal. Great work!
Overall if you were to start from square 1, is the cost of buying all the equipment/products worth it over a professional detail?

Thanks! It is hard to say, because it is a big investment even buying the cheap stuff. That said having it professionally done is even more expensive! I say if it interests you, and you have even one other car you could do go for it! The only con for me is that it is VERY time consuming especially if you are the OCD type. With me chasing perfection at every step, and taking my time it took me about a week to do that car. Well worth it in the end, but something to be aware of for sure. It can defiantly be done faster, but I hate rushing. I enjoy the process. A pro detailer will get you in and out with a good result (hopefully), but you will pay for it. Another aspect is if you have some swirls, water spots, or a bird etching you can take care of it without having to set up an appointment with your detailer and all that.

It also really isn’t as hard as it’s made out to be with modern polishes and ceramic coatings. As long as you stay with a dual action machine it is difficult to damage your paint. A rotary on the other hand... Not so much. The amount of information on the web is staggering, and if you have the time/dedication to teach yourself it’s easy. I learned from Matt at Obsessed Garage. If you follow his process more or less you will be just fine. Expensive, but well worth it. I use all the polishes and pads he recommends. His YouTube channel is excellent, and demonstrates how to use every single product that he sells in his store.

Bottom line is in most instances, you can buy all the stuff to do it for less than it would cost to have it professionally done. The only question that remains is do you have the time?

Interesting. How many miles have you been going like that? I defiantly think my slave is going. There is a small puddle of brake fluid pooling under the car when left overnight 😖

Probably like a thousand miles. I didn't see any brake fluid underneath. I did add some more brake fluid although it wasn't really low. It shifts fine most of the time. I couldn't really pinpoint when it doesn't want to shift. But when it is difficult, i just pump the pedal & is fine
