Does anyone know what 82.420 -> 81 & the partial 06K K mean?

@Diggs24 isn't bore 82.5mm? Could 82.420 be a casting number?
@Jachas Thanks!
@scrllock not sure what you mean.

I have to put my CXCB back together, managed to insert 3 pistons in and broke the control ring on the last piston.

I started looking at part numbers and seems at some point VW changed ring designs to manage oil consumption but from my research it sounds like that the pistons were also updated to work with updated rings.

My pistons have the older style oil control ring which looks to be part 800077510000.

Anyone else have experience/insights they can share?

If it's apart, why not use the updated piston? The early year cars tend to be much worse for oil consumption.

I'm also going to guess that 27/03/15 is the manufacture date.

woah that's some impressive work @DerHase. FWIW, When I called the dealer asking for the piston ring part number they quoted me revision F as well which is what I see in your spreadsheet as well as original equipped part.

Anyhow, I ended up ordering newer style Kolbenschmidt rings 800113810000. They should be here next week, lets see if they fit on my 06K-K pistons.

The square wave (middle portion) of the KS oil ring looks to be too long. It doesn’t leave a gap between its ends, rather wants to overlap which shouldn’t be the case according to instructions.

If it's not a ring from the dealer I wouldn't expect it to come gapped. Usually they're intended for you to file them down to your preferred gap.
