Paint bubbling on rear wheel well

Well, I have an issue with my rear wheel wells starting to bubble and now the paint is peeling. It's the same on both sides. 12 year warranty is still in tact for corrosion, but I'm preparing for the worst. In the matter of 2 months it went from not bubbling, to now paint peeling. Also the VW dealer can't get me in until Oct 22....To take some pictures and send to VW.....

What should I be prepared to argue if they come back with a no?

I initially noticed rust specs in between the seams of the bumper and fender in June. Thought it was weird but just brake dust or something...then it just kept getting worse until last week when I was washing my car by hand and the paint came off on the driver's side.

My thought is they will say it's from the bumper rubbing against the fender when it has been removed. My answer is that I had my vehicle in to VW 4-5 times for blind spot detection fixes and replacements during warranty periods.

Anyways..what you people think I should do?

@dnel29 - I’m in the UK and with many car manufacturer’s, corrosion warranties seems to be of little value as they are limited in scope. I’m assuming the same is also the case with VW Canada’s corrosion warranty.

VW’s corrosion warranty in the UK limits cover to through-corrosion, provided the corrosion wasn‘t originally caused by damage, neglect, insufficient care or maintenance or by external corrosion. So IMHO cover is essentially restricted to corrosion from the inside out that has perforated the panel(s) in question.

So looking at your pictures, if you were in the UK I think that VW or the dealer would very likely say corrosion has been caused by an ‘external influence‘ and not covered. IMHO I’d suspect that damage was caused to the edge of the panel adjacent to the bumper when your dealer has removed and refitted the bumper multiple times to fix your car’s blind spot detection issues. The dealer would of course deny causing the damage.……🤔

I would be inclined to just get it repaired at a good reputable body shop that does high quality work; the longer it’s left in its current state the worse it will get, so it’s likely to become more costly to repair.

Good luck, and please keep this discussion topic updates with developments and the outcome.
