Little more info like what actuator is on it, how long has it ben installed, etc....
That’s what I’m thinking. That’s the thing, is the actuator arm moves very freely.Could be failing. Give it some lubrication at the flapper arm for a couple days and see if that helps. If not, then you need a new actuator.
So the actuator arm snapped and the mechanism inside the actuator was locked up from over retracting. I wonder if it was from having a hard time moving the wastegate… but I never got any over or under boost conditions and moving the wastegate by hand is pretty smooth. Will definitely lube the wastegate pivot from now on though just for safety.Spring might be losing tension and having a hard time. Lube at the arm might help prolong it's life.
If you still have the is12 you can use that actuator, it should be is20 style that rests open and needs to idle to read correct voltage. So the actuator arm snapped and the mechanism inside the actuator was locked up from over retracting. Do you have a recommendation for which actuator to grab?
Unfortunately that one’s long gone, gonna have to buy new. I’m wondering which one is less prone to failing, because 20k miles seems kinda ridiculous for a water gate actuator to fail.If you still have the is12 you can use that actuator, it should be is20 style that rests open and needs to idle to read correct voltage.
I think the is20 style is the better option with less failures and used on all the MK7.5 turbos. Make sure you get one from an oem maufacturer and not some black market junk.Unfortunately that one’s long gone, gonna have to buy new. Did you remap tune back to stock? And did dealer notice? Also were you within powertrain warranty? Just had the code pop up… :/Had the same issue, and code. Tried soaking with pb blaster over the course of a few days. No luck. Got the car back to stock and dealer replaced turbo under warranty
Reach behind and slightly under the turbo from the top it’s the silver looking thing on the back left side of where the engine cover is. You should feel a skinny rod back there. I added a picture I took and I’ll add a question to your question lol… can anyone confirm I antiseize the connection with two “forks” that articulates the arm that attaches to the turbo?Hello, I just got this famous P00AF00 warning. I’ve been reading about lubricating and massaging the wastegate.
Can someone ELI5 how to reach the wastegate?
