Damn plastic warped and leaked like a faucet. Went with on sale cast aluminum.

Interesting on the warping. How many miles were on the car when this happened?

Didn’t do a full case analysis. Maybe. Took someone’s word for it. Saw pan on “flat service”. Aluminum pan was on sale.

Not many places get as hot as we do and then cool down with rain. Plenty of plastic pans “failing” on different manufactures. VW included.

*maybe I cracked it slightly when I hit curb last year with wheel. IDK. Somehow had a tie end nut come loose too.

I had an oil pan replaced in NorCal. Somewhere around 60K. It was a small leak/crack around the seam that the shop needed to UV dye and eventually led to the oil pan.

I was the first they had saw at the time but new pan, new baffles (VW specs as single use and we were in there anyway) and sealant.

Had the pan gasket fail at 20k miles. Same corner as you. When I pulled the pan, the gasket was flat. Added a little black rtv when it went back on. At 45k miles now and leak free. Re used oil pan.

Same. Leak dripping near oil pressure sensor; replaced the whole oil pan but it looked like the original gasket just got flat.
