A little back story before I get to the main event.

2 days ago I received my draggy in the mail. So a short trip to mexico later I had some good data I needed for a long time now. I did 4 runs, so 4 launches. It was cold out, but I did attempt To heat the tires up first. Lots of wheel hop on the first 2 pulls.

Fast forward to yesterday. Go to start the car up to run some errands, and for a split second it sounded like a rod was knocking hard. My heart stopped. Wife shot me a look that could kill. I shut the car off and look under the car. The lower bracket to my Unitronic DP Had popped out of the rubber boots and was banging on the bracket. So off to my buddy's house.

I pull the car up on his ramps to fix the bracket and get scared again... this time for real. Oil was everywhere. The oil pan gasket has failed. I've lost over a half a quart. Upon further examination oil has seeped out from around the oil filter housing, oil fill cap, and dipstick area. So coming from old N/A motors, I'm thinking massive blow by. So I start the car and pull the oil fill cap off. Revs jump to 2k and bounce from there to 1.5k. Hard vaccuum under the cap.

So now I'm at a crossroads. I'll be calling the dealer first to see if I can get it fixed under warranty since the car just clicked over 20k miles. If not (I purchased the car non cpo knowing it was tuned. Fully expect warranty not to do anything) I have 3 options.

1. Find a gasket for the plastic oil pan.

2. Do a steel pan upgrade With gasket.

3. Do an aluminum pan upgrade with gasket.

Has anyone had this issue before? There is zero damage to the oil pan or any surrounding area. Everything looks new other than covered in oil. Sorry for the rambling. Just a little lost right now.

So the dealer couldn't get me in till the end of February. So band aid time came. Took the old pan off and sure enough the gasket was leaking. No sealant was on anything. Just a gasket. So I took the gasket off, took the sensor off, and washed the pan and gaskets in dawn dish soap. Put some high temp black quick seal permatex on the pan, and reinstalled the gaskets. Followed the instructions to a tee, then put it all back together. So far so good, no leaks. Now just to decide on a steel or aluminum pan, cause this plastic one is not staying much longer.

Yup. Only 3 dealerships within 2 hours of me. 1 never called back, 1 was early Feb, and the last was the end of Feb. I lost a quart of oil in a day, so I couldn't wait that long.

The dealer can't see you for 3 months? Wtf...
Sounds about right, my warranty waterpump repair took a whole month. Our economy is shitcanned. A majority is what is being imported right now is only the most profitable stuff, and your oil pan just doesn't make the list.

Does anyone know about the surging of rpm when I take off the oil cap? Is that normal for our engine ? I'm used to old amc v8s. To check for blow by you pull the oil cap and see if it was vaccuum or pressure. This one is weird.

When it was stock it sucked air in. After deleting the PCV valve with the Spulen OCC it spits oil out.
