Oil in turbo intake 1.4 TSI

Hi All,

I was replacing the air filter on my golf 1.4tsi 2014 and I seem to have oil in the pipe that attaches to the turbo and throttle body (pictures attached as I'm not sure what the pipe's called!). In the picture with the two pipes it's the large air pipe on the right (one I'm holding)

I'm wondering if anybody has seen this before or if it's something I need to get checked out? What does it mean?

Thanks!

Some oil will get past the PCV system and blow out back through the inlet (what you are picturing).
If you want to check other areas, check the Hot side charge hose to the IC. If that has a gob of oil, your turbo seal might be wearing out.
Other than that, some oil at the inlet is pretty normal - especially if you run higher boost or run higher viscosity oil.

Mine does this..& every car I've had does....Normal even in a non-turbo car as the crankcase vent system which goes from the crankcase to the engine side of the air filter will allow a small amount of oil to pass through the oil separator ...

When the pipes are totally gunged up with oil is when you start to worry...
