Oil filter flange

My son has a 2014 Jetta SportWagen with the NA 2.5 L 5 cylinder gas engine whose oil filter flange cracked and is now leaking oil after 130,000 miles. He found out how much it was to replace it. I decided to see what my Mk7 GSW has behind the oil filter cartridge. Turns out, the Mk 7 has a plastic flange just like the Jetta. Is there an upgraded replacement part for the Mk 7? I anticipate my 98,000 mile engine to one day start showing signs of plastic fatigue.
