I am the old guy in Eaton, Ohio. Can't think of anything I need through the Vagcom right now. I do come to and through Columbus frequently though. My Mk7 is my 3rd GTI, all APR Stage One.

Recommended cleaning products for 1st wash/ Ohio winters?

My silver reflex GTI has been home for two weeks and needs its first wash - any recs on products to begin using, especially with a terrible winter in the forecast for Ohio this year?

Thanks!

I picked my car up on August 29th. Still had the plastic on as requested. I took a little over a week to do a full detail on it.

I suggest a good car wash and a quality sealant for sure. I come from a detailing background so ask anything you want. Also Autogeek and Autopia are good sources for detailing related info.

I hope you took some photos after that intense detailing! I just wanted a recommendation on a good cleaning solution for the body of the car and a good glass cleaner. I owned an RSX for 12 years so I want to keep my GTI looking its best for as long as possible. Don't think I can spend a week detailing, however!

If your looking to pick up your stuff locally I would recommend Meguiar's "Gold Class car wash" for your wash & Eagle One "superior Nanowax" as a wax. They can be picked up at any Autozone.

If you are willing to order some stuff online there are crazy options for what you can get. (http://www.autogeek.net/was.html) Some of my personal favorites for being easy, looking good, having good durability.

  • Optimum Car Wax
  • Prima Hydro MAX Super Spray Polymer
  • BLACKFIRE Crystal Seal Paint Sealant
  • BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection

This is kinda funny to me. I had an RSX Type-S for the last 10 years. I bought it new @ ParkAcura. Arctic Pearl Blue - 6 speed. I honestly really loved the car and didn't really want to sell it, but it was time.
