Offset plate mount for MK7.5R

Here is my take at an offset plate mount for the MK7.5R. I felt that existing designs lacked a few key details and I haven't been a fan of the brittleness of 3D printed parts. You can see the holes that the dealer drilled into the bumper, but luckily it will be replaced soon. I'm open to suggestions for improvement, so please let me know what you think!

This is my first prototype. The finished product will be a little cleaner (bolt holes lined up, etc) as well as have felt lining.

We'll call this one prototype 0. Just a rough idea of spacing and size.

The entire kit. It's very rough at this stage as I wasn't worrying too much about bolt placement for the prototype. Final version will have properly aligned fittings. Grill clamp is made of HDPE plastic which should be soft enough to not mar the surfaces, strong, and has a ductile-brittle transition temp of somewhere around -45C meaning it won't be brittle in the cold. All of the hardware is stainless.

The back plate. As you can see from the previous picture, the slots cut into the HDPE allow it to fit snugly onto the backside of the grill.

Front and back plates bolted together with stainless hardware. I was very careful not to over tighten as it would damage the grill.

Licence plate backing plate installed. This piece is made of harder plastic which provides some rigidity.

Top down view of the final install with the actual licence plate installed. The entire assembly is so low profile that it doesn't extend past the lower lip of the bumper.

Looks good. Too bad no one is working on one for a GTI MK7.5 Autobahn. Dealer didn’t drill my bumper but it looks like I’ll head that route if I can’t find anything that clears the sensors.
