Features

AN EVOLUTION OF PERFORMANCE - The ML-10RT honors the motorsport designs so many of us fell in love with during the golden era of Touring Car and Sports Car racing. However, its ancestry ends there. Our in-house engineering team pulled out all the stops to create a monoblock forged wheel that's lighter, stronger and stiffer than multi-piece wheels of the past. Utilizing the latest forging technology to offer an impeccable design, backed by Real Performance, at an obtainable price point.

SIDE-MILLED SPOKES - The ML-10RT incorporates Apex’s extra-deep, side-milled spokes. Any excess material that doesn’t add strength is carved out using a precision CNC ball cutter. Often deemed cost-prohibitive by others, this aggressive side-milling shaves critical weight, and adds a sharp contrast in the design of the center spoke area.

SPRINT INNER LIP - The ML-10RT borrows the race-proven Sprint Spec inner lip from our Sprint Line wheels, providing critical strength to the unsupported inner lip of the wheel. Adding 32% more material where it matters most. Don’t settle for under-engineered wheels, attack both the track and your cities potholes with confidence

10K TONS OF PRESSURE - To make our forged wheels the strongest we can, we applied as much pressure as possible using a 10,000 ton forge. This extreme pressure increases the strength of the aluminum by eliminating porosity and improving the grain structure.

TRUE MOTORSPORT BLANKS - Many companies use 3rd-party blanks intended for non-motorsport wheels which can severely limit sizes, concavity, spoke design, and critical brake clearance. We designed our very own blank profiles from scratch to give us total control over the final product.

INDEPENDENTLY TESTED - We don't rely solely on computer simulations or unverifiable in-house testing. We believe independent testing is critical to protect consumers in this unregulated industry. Our Touring Line wheels are independently tested by ITS at their Michigan facility following JWL standards but pushed to much higher loads and much longer durations.

MACHINED LIP - The ML-10RT is our first forged wheel to feature a machined lip, which really makes it a standout design within the Apex catalog. The lip in combination with the mesh center pays homage to the glory days of motorsport, and is sure to dramatically transform the look of any car. The best part - the machined lip has a gloss clear coat and doesn't require polishing.

VEHICLE SPECIFIC SPOKE PROFILES - The lipped design of the ML-10RT inherently limits brake clearance. Rather than making every fitment as conservative as possible, we utilized our extensive 3D vehicle scanning library to shrink wrap each fitment's spoke design around respective OEM and popular aftermarket brake kits. Leveraging our vehicle research and engineering team, we find a perfect balance of concavity and brake clearance.

BUILT FOR IMPACT SOCKETS - Don’t settle for wheels that require undersized tuner lugs or thin walled sockets. All Apex wheels accommodate over-sized race lugs and impact sockets to make swapping wheels lightning fast.

OEM CENTER CAP COMPATIBILITY - Love that OEM+ look? Us too. Our engineers went the extra mile and incorporated a flush mounted OEM center cap support into the ML-10RT. Whether you want to show off your included Apex center caps or stick with your OEM caps, the ML-10RT will seamlessly accept both.

LASER-ENGRAVED SPECS - As car enthusiasts ourselves, we know how frustrating it is to locate and decipher wheel specs that have been hastily marked on a wheel or become unreadable over time. Our Touring Line wheels have laser-engraved specs on the barrel, in plain sight, making them easy to find and read.

I have 4 wheels on my shortlist and 2 of them, or now 3 of them after seeing these wheels, are apex wheels.

Is there more coming in the next year?

No 17" size (n)
I'm just as bummed out as you are! I pushed for 17" ML-10RT for VW/Audi (as I may or may not have wanted a set for my personal car) but the brake clearance just simply wasn't good enough to justify making them. Unfortunately, in the 17x8.5" ET43 and 17x9" ET42 specs, the ML-10RT wasn't able to even clear GTI PP or MK7 R OEM brakes.

Nothing else will be coming through the pipeline for VW/Audi this year but we are looking at options for an all-new VW/Audi specific design that will tackle the pain points common with small bore 5x112 fitments in this market, with a focus on performance/functionality over all else. Especially considering the brake clearance limitations with the ML-10RT, we wanted to pivot with our next design to offer something that improves upon what has made the SM-10 and VS-5RS so popular since their release.

How much camber is required to fit the 18x9 on a MK7.5 GTI?

Depends on your ride height, tire size, and specific tire model selection. With 245/40-18 or 255/35-18 street tires on stock suspension, you can typically get away without any additional camber. However, on a lowered car with more aggressive 200TW or R compound tires that run wide, we suggest dialing-in around -2.0 to -2.5 degrees up front.

Give the 514AM from ORTForged a look. Brake clearance for days.
My true love are TE37s, so the DR-6S got me excited. I don't see anyone posting pics of their wheels online though. Search results of their company and wheels come up with nothing.
I was trying to keep it under $2500 too though. I've been having a hard time finding anything I actually like that has the fitment I want. It's gotta be 19x9 and et40-45 and there doesn't seem to be many wheels with that fitment. Apex has some but only the 18s fit, there's neuspeed, some bbs, and I've been looking at some custom works.

Two piece Work Emotion T7R were my #1, but I haven't been able to decide if that was the route I wanted to go. A 45 offset is pretty aggressive on those wheels. It eliminates the lip and makes the spokes stick out further than the lip, so I don't know if that's really what I want.

On the Works I like the polished lip with gunmetal spokes, so seeing the apex ML-10RTs with a polished lip and an anthracite face also gets me excited.

I like the SM-10s and VS-5RS a lot too. It's just those wheels are soooo much better looking with a wider wheel with the concave face. The flat faces don't get me as excited. Plus the only fitment that works on my car are the 18" versions and I'm not sure I want to go down from a 19" to a 18" wheel.

The RS3 has a weird fitment with a 9" wide et 25 wheel in the front and a 8" wide et 46 wheel in the back. I want a squared set up, so I know I'll have to have at least a 20mm spacer in the front. It makes finding the right wheels more difficult, but I'm in no rush to make a decision right now.

Great job on these. They’re awesome. I really want to pull the trigger but had issues with (different brand wheel) 18x9 et42 wheels with 245/40 Bridgestone Potenza rubbing the filler neck when I added rear camber for aesthetics. Around -2 so they looked good and fit in line with the fenders. I am lowered but don’t want the wheels/tires poking out past the fenders in the back.
What’s your experience/opinion?

I do want to mention that we did launch our all-new 8Y RS3 specific fitment in both 18" and 19" options available in our VS-5RS and new ML-10RT designs. Both of which will clear the 8Y RS3 front brakes without any issues. Fitment-wise for the VS-5RS, you can do 18x9" ET42 square with 20mm front spacers, or reverse staggered with a 18x9.5" ET20 front and 18x9" ET42 rear. In our ML-10RT design, we have the 18x9" ET42 and 19x9" ET42 square setup, as well as a reverse staggered 19x9.5" ET20 front and 19x9" ET42 rear.

Dialing-in too much rear camber, especially with tires that run bulky in the shoulders, is typically the cause of the fuel filler neck rub. A lot of it has to do with the 245/40-18 tire size being a bit on the taller side, so typically I prefer to recommend a 255/35-18, which gives the fuel filler a bit more breathing room.

I thought I had seen 19" VS-5RS wheels that would fit my car, but now I only see 19s with a et25 on the site. Maybe it was 18s I was looking at. I've looked at so many wheels and fitments I can't keep it straight anymore.

You're more than likely seeing our BMW G-chassis 5x112/66.6 wheels, which have a 19x9" ET25 and 19x9.5" ET25 fitment. For VW/Audi 5x112/57.1, we have not yet made any 19" fitments, as the new 19x9.5" ET20 and 19x9" ET42 ML-10RT wheels will be our first.

Absolutely, the new ML-10RT is fire, I love it. I'll pm you on ORT as not to take away from this thread. ORT Motorsport has been around for a long while. He's just now entering the custom forged wheel space, but mainly the BMW crowd so far. I run a few of his wheels on my alltrack and another on the X7.
