When my 3P0 arrives, and is wired/confirmed to work I expect the two of you will have settled on a design and produced something I can 3D print.
So today 3P0 charger came in and I connected it like explained. Sadly enough I couldn't get it to work, not on the bench and not in the car.. It is not recognised by my GW's. Like I hoped, it was recognised automatically, but it didn't. So I added HEX DE manually, but sadly without succes.Yes, we have things to worry about, haha. I think easiest thing for me will be make a quick harness with only 4 of the 6 pins to see if things play nice.
1 - power
2 - convenience/comfort can low
- On 5NA charger this pin connects to MIB and external amp (if installed)
3 - convenience/comfort can high
- On 5NA charger this is the LIN bus wire to the MIB
4 - ground
The other 2 pins...
5 - LIN bus to the external antenna amp (which I do have and plan to install)
- On 5NA charger this goes to KESSY Module/BCM.
6 - Goes to the KESSY Module and BCM
- This is the wire that is in Pin 5 of the 5NA charger
Assuming this all works, if you are going 5NA to 3P0...
- Move wire from Pin 5 to Pin 6
- Remove the wire from Pin 2, it is no longer needed.
- Unless you have the external amp, in that case move wire from Pin 2 to Pin 5 and also pull the wire from infotainment unit.
- Add comfort/convenience can wiring
- Easiest, I think, is take tap this from HVAC Module (but do as you wish, of course)
- HVAC 20 Pin connector Pin 5 - high
- HVAC 20 Pin connector Pin 6 - low.
- Add module to your gateway installation list.
Well, no design with actual dimensions, but I made this today, since I was already tinkering with the wirelesscharger. I tested it, and the air flows out very nicely through the venting hole, you might consider this design (3D printed or not) if you ever might install the 5CG charger. When my 3P0 arrives, and is wired/confirmed to work I expect the two of you will have settled on a design and produced something I can 3D print.
Yes I have a 3Q0 gateway, sw version 3Q0907530L@Meesters That's bad news for now. I'm surprised the gateway didn't notice "something" on the can bus. I'm assuming your 7.5 has 3Q0 gateway. What is your software version?
No hope (yet) there, my bench setup is something very old (might even be a 5Q0, haha) but I'm running 5502 in the car.Yes I have a 3Q0 gateway, sw version 3Q0907530L
@Cuzoe
Update, Car, sw number, 3Q0907530L version 5323
Bench, sw number, 3Q0907530AR version 5502
5WA gateway is completely different story compared to 3Q0/5Q0. 5WA have Ethernet gateway in it and some CANs are FD (flexible data). According to SSP680 (A3 8Y) . Powertrain, Diagnose, Driver assistant and chassis CANs are FD, rest like Infotaiment, Hybrid, Comfort, Gearbox are regular CAN.In my quick googling I can't find anything though I seem to remember reading that these gateways are a different speed on the can bus. Anybody got any input on that?
Good research work I must say, however sadly enough it seems mqb gateway probably can't talk to HEX DE I suppose. Where you got wiring diagram, Erwin?Passat B9 diagram is what I used for the wiring "instructions" in my prior post. I couldn't find any B9 or 8.5 scans.
This 2024 Audi RS3 scan has module DE...

Part number is 4N0035502B looking that up do on eBay that have the connector attached. The 6-pin and the antenna connector are in a different position relative to the 3PO. But 1-4 are populated, and based on the colors look like power, can, can, ground.
Of course it has the 5WA gateway. In my quick googling I can't find anything though I seem to remember reading that these gateways are a different speed on the can bus. Anybody got any input on that?
Wauw, what knowledge, how you know all that stuff if I may ask? I think the charger is not connected through ethernet, because based on standards, ethernet uses minimum 2 pairs of wires, and as Cuzoe mentioned there are only 4 wires connected at all.5WA gateway is completely different story compared to 3Q0/5Q0. 5WA have Ethernet gateway in it and some CANs are FD (flexible data). According to SSP680 (A3 8Y) . Powertrain, Diagnose, Driver assistant and chassis CANs are FD, rest like Infotaiment, Hybrid, Comfort, Gearbox are regular CAN.
And 5WA gateway is from revised MQB platform, named MQB37 (Golf8 and siblings like A3 8V, leon 4gen, formentor, octavia 4gen, Caddy 5gen). And in last month or two, MQB37 was revised and named MQBevo (All aftermentioned cars after facelift + Passat b9/superb 4 and Tiguan 3/Kodiaq). Gateway was changed from 5WA to 5QS
So it's something like connecting golf 7 stuff to golf 6 (PQ platform) I supose
The "regular" Ethernet in the most popular form uses 8pins in RJ-45 connector with 4 data wires, but in VW's is used "Automotive Ethernet" (descibed in SSP680) is only 2 wires for data transfer.I think the charger is not connected through ethernet, because based on standards, ethernet uses minimum 2 pairs of wires, and as Cuzoe mentioned there are only 4 wires connected at all.
I don't know if someone tried, but probably it's gonna be impossible as all the topology of car network changed (for example, Immo was moved from cluster to BCM on MQB37 and MQBevo, Kessy introduced 4 new, optional anntenas on every corner to fight with car theft using "suitcase" method, keys have motion sensor to deactivate it kessy function to save battery and futher protect from suitcase method disabling engine start if key is not moving) It may be possible to retrofit, but it would require more stuff to swap and/or custom flashing of some modulesDo you think 5WA gateway could be retrofitted on golf 7, using only regular CAN? I'm a real noob, sorry for asking![]()
80% of knowledge I quote/use is in SSP's , 20% is everyday work on these cars and TPI's/TSB'sWauw, what knowledge, how you know all that stuff if I may ask?
A, right, so you do work in the automotive industry80% of knowledge I quote/use is in SSP's , 20% is everyday work on these cars and TPI's/TSB's![]()
This morning I tried literally all CAN-BUS's on bench, also I interchanged LOW and HIGH for every bus. So far,, nothing.Although we only have one data point so far my thinking was/is that maybe we get lucky with module DE. The 2Q0 blind spot radars are still used with 5WA... From memory here aren't those on can bus extended?
