Anyone have a good recommendation for these? Looking for something with decent sized text that can be mounted anywhere and can display around 4 to 6 parameters simultaneously. There's an overwhelming amount on Amazon half of which are probably garbage.

Thanks..

Only one i'd bother w/ (sub $200) is the Scangauge II (4 parameter spots, limited selection for GTI), otherwise see above. Possible to mount between steering column and odo reset button.

simos tools not working for you? Sounds like what you want, plus a phone or tablet or whatever size device you want.

I use the phone quite a bit for streaming and nav. Was really wanting a total stand alone solution.. Now the the Access Port is available for the 1.8 engine, I may just go that route depending on what kind of numbers the pro tuners are able to coax out of it.

gotcha, yeah that makes sense. I picked up a Kindle Fire HD8 for $45 on amazon prime day, something like that could also be a good "standalone" "perm install" setup

What parameters do you want to monitor?

Speed, IAT, Oil Temp (if possible). Accurate boost would be nice, but it's my understanding (and I could be wrong) that most of these only display requested boost, not actual boost.

This is what I have. It can display 1-8 items at a time. 5 Different screens can be set. Seems to monitor boost correctly but can't say for fact. It does not monitor oil temp though.
Here are the parameters it can supposedly read:

This will supposedly read what you need. I love the looks of it and would have bought it but I had already purchased the Banks.

Simos Tools is the droid you seek. It can log anything you could possibly want engine and DSG-wise. This video is a good overview of it's capabilities:

It's really stupid fast to set up. Had a friend at an autocross event who kept complaining of his car bogging coming out of the last sweeper before the finish, so I ran to my car, grabbed the A0 dongle and tablet, put them in his car, turned it on and told him to make sure cruise control was disabled before he launches (I have mine set to log when cruise is DISabled, vs enabled like most people).

I used the CSV file from the log to pull whatever data from the below list I wanted to add to the video. I could literally cover the entire screen with all of the below if I really wanted to :ROFLMAO:

It literally logs all of this stuff when you have logging enabled (and this isn't even counting the DSG stuff):

And you can choose any of that stuff to display on gauge pages (which you don't have to be saving a log to do this, can just view it in real time, and choose to log when you want under whatever parameters you define).

I got Simos Tools mainly to log stuff while on track, which it will be perfect for. Won't be testing it myself until the end of September unfortunately. I just picked up a cheap tablet on Amazon (same as the everything CPO video above).

Edit: as for my buddy's Alltrack - we're 95% sure the problem was that his DSG wasn't downshifting to 1st or 2nd and he wasn't hitting the paddles to force it to do so.

I don't need SimosTool (yet) but I'm tempted to set it up with one of the kids' old tablets. It has to be an A0 dongle, correct?
