My rain trays discoloration drives me nuts. I’ve tried a few products and nothing lasts. It just goes back to gray. Happened upon a YouTube video about this stuff. Seems very promising. So I bought some.
I think it was about $30-$35 plus shipping. Here’s what it comes with.
-Pair of gloves. If you have larger hands, you may want to get your own, but do not apply this product without them.
-Prewash solution, comes with a sprayer head as well.
-4 presoaked pads
*wipers not included
For reference, here’s my rain tray after a regular car wash.
Just the right of the wiper arm, closest to the glass, is the worst of it. It’s almost white at this point. Under the hood wasn’t bad, but who is going to do just the affected spot?Don’t be lazy.
I removed them for through cleaning, but made the decision to install them for the coating process. These can’t get wet for 8-12 hours so I figured it was better to have them in place to minimize any issues. If I did it again I would start earlier in the day and let everything dry real well first. Apply and install.
I pressure washed them, no soap to get the tighter areas. Then used the prewash, which cleaned really well.
Laid them in place and locked them into the bottom of the windshield. Wiped Andy excess water up and waited until they were dry.
Now for the fun part. You use a medium pressure to lightly squeeze the solution out as your wipe the trim. Coat, coat, coat and wipe with a clean microfiber. Make sure your coat is even before getting rid of the sponge. The sponge is real nice to work as the sharp edges allow you to get right to the edge of the trim without getting it on paint or glass. It was a little tougher in the tighter areas, but you can get it in there.
The finished product looks real nice.
I’m super happy with the results and look forward to see what it looks like tomorrow morning.
Keep in mind, this stuff stinks. Do not use this stuff inside the house. It applies and wipes up easy. If this really lasts 250 washes, which will basically be permanent, it’s a product that is well worth the money. I’ll let you know at the end of the summer how it is.
UPDATE:
Here’s the next morning with no sun glare.
