No email notification when I receive a PM

Like the title says I don't get an email when I receive a PM.
I went into my setting and enabled every notification option....but still no luck.

I'm using gmail....checked the spam folder and made sure their were no "blocked" senders.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Xenforo is really picky when it comes to Gmail for some reason. If you search Google "xenforo gmail notifications", you'll see a bunch of threads on the Xenforo support forums about users not getting notifications with Gmail, and suggestions on how to fix it on the (Xenforo) backend. Unfortunately, with the admins from the site gone, it'll never get fixed here.

This. There are also instances of new users signing up and never receiving their welcome email with signup info or something to that effect. To the point where they need to use a different email host to create an account.

It's because a year or 2 ago gmail increased their spam protection and anyone that doesn't have the proper dkim or spf records set up on their mail server ends up getting blocked.

I had to create a new Proton Mail email account to receive the activation email bc it doesn’t work with Gmail. Annoying but it worked!

Yep, I couldn't subscribed to this board using a gmail address as I never received the email to confirm the account after many tries. I contacted support via the site and got no reply. Despite the restrictions on certain email addresses, it hasn't stopped this site being spammed by ads galore!
