Macan swap is relatively cheap for brakes, and it should be real easy. Don't even need to upgrade BMC.

I can't say it's not on my mind, but it's (another) costly thing

and because I have an awful mind for this type of thing all I can think of is how much money it's gonna cost to do brakes, front sway bar, get race tires and pads for the AX car, refinish our basement, the list goes on and on

If you already have PP brakes, IMO the Macans are a (slight) downgrade. The pads are thin AF. Everyone I know who actually tracks their cars hard burn through pads in 1-2 days. PP pads start out at 19mm thick, Macans are like 15.5mm or something. They're worthless on track after 2mm is worn - the friction material is thinner than the backing plates at that point.

Everyone overlooks pad thickness when that is one of the primary things that keeps you from cooking your fluid.

/Unpopular opinion.

If you have non-PP brakes then disregard. In that case though on the street just putting good pads on should still be sufficient. Ferodo 2500s are about the highest temp rated pad that won't squeel like the dickens that I'm aware of. They're ridiculously good for a street pad.

In a legendary rare Nine move, I'll put performance over aesthetic just this one time. Don't get used to it though ;) I've been looking at Ferodo 1500 or 2500 as a pad option because having the HP+, they're too much upkeep for something I'd like to keep nice. So it looks like the bigger PP brakes are staying, but because I'm extra they're gonna need to get powdercoated. Probably black or some darker color.

I just get antsy because stock brakes + coming down from high speeds never sounds like a good idea, but if it's a bit different than comparing base Jetta brakes and wooden pad material, then I'm on board.

what a rollercoaster. RBF600 in 2025, gotta look at the Ferodo options. And start browsing colors.

I can't get sucked into this Rabbit edition hole, if trackday folks say PP brakes are adequate with good pads and fluid, I'm not gonna spend the extra coin.

he says while actively looking up powder coat colors like a wiener

If you're keeping PP brakes but want a darker color why not swap to R calipers and then you'll have your stock PP calipers to sell?
I thought about this/it was on my radar. But tbh I think the opportunity to do something custom/cool is a little too tempting. Even though I'll likely do black with some degree of flake

Take my idea and call Willwood. They make a kit a for the MK7 platform. I would toss you a link but that takes the fun out of it lol.

EDIT: my stupid arse looked a them again, uggh. I have other priorities right now dammit... just look away.. just look away.
