Hello!

First off I am a proud owner of a brand spankin new 2015 GTI SE (manual). My very first VW. I am newish to modding. I kept my previous ride pretty stock (BMW e46 3 series). First off the mods i am looking to do as of now are as follows.

1. Stage 1 APR
2. GFB DV+
3. Short RAM intake (not sure of the brand, suggestions are welcome :) )

My main thoughts are which i should get first. Would you guys/gals suggest that i get my intake and DV+ before I get my APR stage 1? I feel as though a ECU upgrade should be done with a intake and having the nice DV+ in place so that the ECU is set into place with the power/air mix upgrade from the intake in place already. I am open to any suggestions for i am pretty new to the VW and modding scene so dont bite too hard ;)

Thanks guys!

You'll have to pardon for our lack of responses.

You must realize that we get these types of posts quite often and it does get repetitive to respond with the same answer over and over again. I, for one, did that too, but over time learned and so will you.

Now that's out of the way... WELCOME!!!

A tune (APR, REVO, Unitronic, Eurodyne, GIAC...etc) will ALWAYS be the best bang for buck in terms of power per dollar spent. That said, I have the Eurodyne and will be going Stage 2 very soon.

Why?

Because, currently, they are the only ones with at-home options. The rest are dealer-dependent to remove the tune for any reason (dealer visits, usually or when upgrading to different stages). Those said dealers MAY charge you a fee for the labour involved.

Regarding power, they're all in the same ball park. Some will make more power, some will make more torque, some will take it further down the rev range...etc. Minute difference really, if you ask me. The best tune to get is whatever fits your budget and lifestyle (I do not want to pay every time I need to flash my car). Regarding which to do first, it's really your choice. Some here have just the tune. Some have a tune and all the bolt-ons. I will have the tune and dp (for Stage 2), and will stay that way for awhile. Don't forget better tires.

I encourage you to spend a few days/weeks perusing the forums for such information. You'll learn a lot! And, hopefully make a few friends :)

Regarding the DV+ and intake, I'll drop some (not all) names for you and I'll leave it to you to research more.

DV+: GFB (GoFastBits) and CTS Turbo
Intake: APR, Injen, CTS Turbo, Unitronic

Supplementing what Carlos said, no question tune would be my step one again. Intake seems be be a cosmetic and auditory upgrade much more than cost-efficient performance upgrade.. that being said, i have one on order from Roc-Euro which is finishing production shortly. performance-wise, downpipe supplementing tune is the more productive 2nd performance engine upgrade. Cts turho (just installed mine in the garage a couple nights ago - no sweat), awe, and a number of others.

As you will read.. tune is the ear to ear grin upgrade. To me the change from stock to even stage 1 or 1.5 (i went eurodyne so i could flash my own car), just transformed the car and made it 5 times as enjoyable in ALL types of driving.. crazy.
