Don’t want to spam the forum so this’ll be the only post about it, but I’ve been quietly working on a website dedicated to the MQB platform and track driving (and to a lesser extent - also autocross).

www.datadrivenmqb.com

Lots of info will carry over to street performance (such as the oil cooler location testing) so just poke around and tell me what you think.

There is also a Facebook page at www.facebook.com/datadrivenmqb if you want to give it a like and a share, that’s greatly appreciated.

There is lots more to add, but IMO it’s finally at a point I can share it with some decent content for the community.

Thank you, love that you're taking the initiative to get this done for the entire MQB community.

One question I have around the Performance Pack brakes is do you believe your results would change with the added weight of the 4motion system and other knick knacks found in the R?

I run the exact same pad/rotor setup, and actually convinced @DerHase to go to these pads, on my 2018 DSG R. Results appear consistent between the two cars.

As Alex said, he ran the DS1.11 rears before I actually did.

For me, the DS3.12 fronts with DS2500 rears were definitely not optimal, and you have to have a VERY light touch to the pedal to manage not just activating ABS throughout the entire braking zone. I tend to favor a sensitive pedal and am better at modulating over a shorter distance (pedal travel) vs a longer distance IMO, so I was able to deal with it. I think he's the opposite and said it was undriveable. 🤣 I definitely recommend the 3.12/1.11 combo together as it's considerably better. I've got a habit of hopping into wildly different cars at autocross events and being able to just adapt and at least not completely suck. FWIW.

If anything I'd imagine the added weight of the R vs GTI would help in some regards because more weight over the rear to keep it stable under braking, plus keep some heat in the rear pads better for maintaining that balance.

I've gotten fantastic life out of the 3.12/1.11 pads on my GTI (just to be clear I swap back to DS2500s on the street). @Redslaya can let you know how long his last - but keep in mind him and his wife dual drive their R at track days, so their wear rate will be a notably faster.

That is very reassuring to hear as someone who has toasted the Clubsport S brake upgrades on his R. I have the RS3 ducts waiting to go next and can remove the dust shield next too. Have thought I would need a BBK to progress with the car, so this is very encouraging, Thank You both!

I just realized you're in Charlotte - me and @Redslaya will both be at VIR in December for the TSCC December to VIRmember HPDE if you're able to make it! We always have a ton of MQB cars show up, would be great to add another to the roster! (I'm not signed up just yet, unsure if I'll be instructing or running advanced group right now - but I'll absolutely be there!)

Awesome! Thanks for the invite! Let me look into it - getting track time/car time is harder these days.

the rs3 ducts make a HUGE difference in wear. I had one break off just before an event and afterwards the side without the ducts had measurably more wear. As was mentioned, the 3.12F and 2500R was undrivable. ABS wouldnt event engage the rears would just lock up leaving a massive cloud of smoke as the rear end tried to come around. the 3.12/1.11 wear is good, i think i get about 5-6 2-day events out of the front and the rears barely wear at all. i also swap back to 2500s on the street.

Lots of good info on the website. Very much appreciate all the effort you put into building it. Going to have to buy me a notebook to take some notes.
