New Mk7 GTI, 6 speed, clunking when shifting hard...

I have a new mk7 GTI. About 3k miles on it now.
I love the car, but this is my first VW.

Since day one, with traction control off, when I shift hard, there is a clunk coming from what sounds like somewhere in the middle of the car.

It reminds me of my old camaro when the tranny mount was broken.

It sounds awful. I had the dealer look at it and they said they couldn't get it to clunk (BS).

Any thoughts/ideas?

Thanks.

If the dealer could not get it to do it, you might need to have a tech do a ride along so you can replicate the problem.

I'm pretty sure it's drivetrain lash. You're loading up the drivetrain under full power, momentarily unloading it during the shift, then loading it up again when you bang your next gear. Soft mounts and tolerances exacerbate this. In every car I have ever owned, I get this type of noise while shifting under full throttle.

When it rained here last, I heard the same noise when accelerating hard and the tires would break loose.

Definitely take a tech for a ride along.

Is there anything loose under the car? Splash guard, exhaust not connected to the exhaust hanger, etc.

Does the picture show the issue? I'm not seeing anything wrong.
