Hi Guys, I'm new to forum.
Picked up my new Mk 7.5 Golf GTI DSG performance pack in Black. Fell in love with it on the test drive and shopped in my Mk4 Ford focus 1.5 ST Line auto 182.

The DSG is taking a bit of getting used to and I have to admit I was a bit dubious hearing all the horror stories with regards to DSG reliability but decided to take the plunge!

The mk4 focus was driven by a torque converter. Complete different beast in how it delivered power and was great at creeping and traffic light take off. The only thing I'm missing is sharper steering in the ford and the heated windscreen which was a godsend. But u can't have it all. Oh well back to de icer spray and warm water.

The last vw group car I had was a Skoda fabia mk1 diesel vrs that was a torque monster and the longest car I kept 5yrs+

Anyways Hope you guys have a great Xmas

I was so tempted by the golf r would have been a good 4k more but I told myself I wouldn't drive it or I'd end up buying, would have been more on fuel and insurance not to mention more maintenance I suspect

The performance of the GTI performance pack seems enough

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new GTI. By the way the DSG is extremely reliable. Plenty of guys with 500 HP + with the DSG without any problems.

DSG horror stories are for the weaker DQ200.....which is only fitted to the lower power cars below 180bhp...

The GTI has the stronger DSG box...with wet clutchs…

MK1 Fabia Vrs ..I know them.....shame they didn't use the 1.8T or the 1.6lt 16v (125bhp) as they would fit easy...

Anyway plenty of OEM mods to do to your new car....!!..;)

Nice one dave, almost had issues insuring this motor as the ins company said its not modified and it needs to be modified in order for me to be covered. I did have to argue n point out its on warranty so I can't but once warranty expires il be on it lol

Its such a solid feeling car I saw the Leon 290 before I saw the golf pp, the quality was night and day hence why I'm here :)

Nice! The best two mods you can make are getting some good aftermarket paddles. It will make you actually use the shifters which make for a better driving experience. Also not sure which tires they come with in the UK but if you put some good performance tires on e.g. Pilot Sport 3+ AS it will completely change the experience of the car.

Sweet il definitely look into it.
I take it these are GDI engines or are they a mix of port and DI, basically do they suffer from clogged injectors?

That's good to know I know there have been various issues with GDI engines, the latest ford focus mk4 also used a mix of port and fuel injection

I came across this YouTuber one of the most comprehensive reviews of the golf albeit in manual. One of the only reviewers that gets on the underside of the body and reviews the full setup. Check or out dudes.
