Hi all - new to this forum and also a new GTI owner. Never owned a VW car before, but I fell in love with how the GTI drives and looks.

Just picked up the ‘21 GTI SE in Cornflower Blue (6-speed) last night.

Would love to hear any advice or tips in maintaining/taking care of the car, that’s particular to this specific car. Thanks in advance!

Very very noice! Enjoy it man. These cars are hella fun. Once you begin your research on mods, you realize, the possibilities are endless, it just depends where you want to take it. They can make easy power and suspension mods will make you enjoy the drives even more when you're whipping around effortlessly.

Just keep up with general maintenance. Follow up on oil changes per recommendations on the forum. I use my own recommendation here in Jersey where I get real cold and real hot weather. I make a point to change the oil before each extreme change in weather. I do an oil change typically in November and one in April regardless of mileage. I honestly don't put that many miles on but do it anyway just because.

Since it yours is brand new, I would do an oil change within the first 1000-or 1500 miles just to get the new car metal shrapnel out. Then stick to the routine. Did your dealer offer a maintenance package with the car where the give free oil changes for X amount of years? I would take advantage of that if they did but at least get in the 1000-1500 yourself even if the dealer requires a certain mileage first.

Welcome! I'm a new owner myself and kept kicking myself for not waiting for the 2021 to hit the dealer lots...they started showing up at the dealer lots 1.5 weeks after I purchased mine. I just hit 1000 miles and based on my research, what SnailpowerMk7 is what I'll be doing before doing the regular routine after getting the metal shrapnel out.

Funny. My dealer had a CFB 21 on the floor this morning that I saw while waiting for service. Looked stunning under fluorescent.

That’s awesome man, congrats. Enjoy the car!

I’d recommend going all out on the stock tires, so you’re more likely to replace them quicker. They’re trash, even compared to just a good all season.

Be sure to keep some white lithium or silicone WD40 around for the inevitable squeaks. I did an Armour King Ceramic Coat - $50 and took a few hours, but looks awesome and protects against water/dust really well, along with being super shiny. Something to consider!

One more would be an OBDEleven scanner to do some basic coding things - I personally turned on locking/unlocking with remote while car is on, windows from key fob, and a few other niceties.

Overall, great choice.
