Available factory option on US and Canadian e-Golfs

that is likely where the NAR discopro firmware comes from on our retrofits

OP has a MK7R though. My GTI has the 8" MIB2 system which is the same as what Golf Rs have.

Unlike the guy at VWVortex who advertises "unlocked" 2021 map updates - that guy sells you an original VW SD card & packaging, so at least he's paid for a license for each copy he's selling. This guy is openly admitting that he bought the current maps "at great expense" and is reselling bootleg copies on the cheap. Even if they work, it's blatant theft. Surprised mods haven't removed this thread yet.

and I'm pretty sure they won't work. not positive but I had thought each card needed a license or code or something from VW.

Not works for me, tested in a Discover Pro 2 and Discover Pro 2.5

Just to clear things up.

MIB2 High and MIB2.5 Harman units (Discover Pro) update their maps to the internal memory and dont need external SD card to work.

MIB2 Standard units Delphi and Technisat (Discover Media) use external SD card for navigation.SD Cards are protected and units must be patched to work with non OEM cards.

Maps are not under license,and can be freely downloaded.The protection mechanism works via SWAP code and SD card identification number.

Not works for me, tested in a Discover Pro 2 and Discover Pro 2.5

I Need to update FEC´s i have License in the car only for 2018/2019 Maps, 2020 can´t be installed, then maybe i need to reflash the infotainment.
