Needles don’t light up?

Hi all,
I’ve searched but not found an answer to this yet…
I’ve just bought a MK7 1.6 SE Bluemotion but noticed that none of the dash needles light up? I’ve spoken to VW and they say that for this model that’s correct which begs the question… how do I turn them on? Coding or mod required?

I have changed the adaption using obdeleven as you suggested but it wouldn’t do it saying it was unavailable. Is it possible that it won’t work ever or am I doing something wrong?
