Evening all,
It is time to change my tires as I cannot stand the potenzas that came with the GTI (s001). I have been looking around but cannot come to a definite answer regarding what to go for. The current potenzas pick up every impfection on the road and is felt on my back as i spend about 3-4 hours a day in the car - apart from being way too noisy.
Keeping tire brand aside for now, I have a dilemma:-
Either go for:
1. stock spec of 225/40/18 on a better and more comfortable tire with less noise (good year eagle f1 or good year efficient grip performance(as they are brilliant on my BMW).
2. go for 235/40/18 of the same mentioned above.
3. go for 225/45/18 so as to get a thicker tire meaning more comfort.
4. extreme...but 235/45/18 - this would increase grip due to wider tires but also increase comfort due to it being 45. However, I have no idea if this setup will work on the GTI, hence the dilemma.
Which of these scenarios/choices is applicable to the GTI MK7 that would not result in rubbing issues or any other problems. My ideal would be scenario 3 or 4 as comfort is paramount but I am open to understanding otherwise.
Now as for brands I am considering (all summer tires) :
Dunlop Sport Maxx RT (but heard their life is horrible)
Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance
Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric
Thanks in advance
