The @NC Volkswagen Audi Group Back of the Dragon mountain Drive is back on for Saturday, March 11th.
FOR THOSE COMING FROM RALEIGH:
Meet at the Sheetz near RDU 1600 Aviation Pkwy, Morrisville, NC 27560 and depart at 7:00am sharp.
Arrive in Winston at 8:30am and pick up the Triad crew at the shell station at 1415 Lewisville Clemmons Rd, Clemmons, NC 27012
From there, we will drive to Oak Grove Baptist Church at 8087 Windsor Rd, Hamptonville, NC 27020 and arrive at 9:00am to meet up with the Charlotte crew.

FOR THOSE COMING FROM CHARLOTTE:
Depart the Exxon at 12906 Rosedale Hill Ave, Huntersville, NC 28078 at 8:10am and arrive at Oak Grove Baptist Church at 9:00.
We’ll all roll out from Oak Grove Baptist Church at 9:20 towards Speedway at 1602 2nd St, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659 arriving at 9:40am before heading north towards BOTD.

FOR THOSE COMING FROM ASHEVILLE:
Meet us in Wilkesboro Speedway 1602 2nd St, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659 at 9:40am. If you feel like doubling back and meeting everyone at the church in Hamptonville at 9:00am, that’s fine too.

FOR THOSE COMING FROM VA:
Meet at the Citgo located at 1121 N Main St, Marion, VA 24354 at 11:00am. Everyone can fuel up here before hitting the BOTD. There is no E here so bring a can if required!

With everyone from NC gathered at the Speedway in Wilkesboro, we’ll take Sparta Road (Rt 18) which is another great windy road to Marion, VA, gas up at the Citgo at 1121 N Main St, Marion, VA 24354 and then hit the BOTD to Tazewell. The Back of the Dragon is 32 miles with 400+ curves. There’s a great welcome center which usually has a food truck. There are other food options as well.

- Here’s the plan for timing. We will share our location to make things easier and bring a walkie-talkie as there is little service in the mountains.
- If there is a chance for wet roads, we will punt and reschedule.
- Make sure your vehicle’s maintenance is up to date. I’m sure we will have some tools on us, but we’re not bringing the parts department so do a once-over before heading out.
- Once we get to Marion, VA, we’ll decide the order for the BOTD. Everyone should be driving within their ability, but nobody in a Golf R wants to be stuck behind a TDI if you catch my drift.
