My fuel filler drain tube was clogged

Washing the car today, I noticed the drain tube behind the filler door was clogged, and water was just pooling in that plastic cavity.. I had no idea how narrow the tube is, no wonder it clogged-- the I.D. is about 1.5mm! A 3-foot long bicycle brake cable was the perfect tool to clean it out. Drains perfectly now.

Funny enough, took the Fiancee's 2020 Jetta R-Line in for it's 20k mile service and they noticed+cleaned the fuel filler drain as well. Definitely a good area to check when you wash the car

Mine is currently clogged, will have to take a look to see what I have in the garage to take care of it

Slow and steady is my advice. You don’t want the tube coming off.

Compressed air works well too.
Compressed air is not the best choice. .95 string trimmer (weed wacker) line works excellent. Just ran it down through the gas door drain without issue.
