More power?

Ok so I've got the custom remap, Milltek exhaust, upgraded air filter etc, is there anywhere else I can go to extract more power without destroying the engine? My car is probably putting out about 240 bhp at the moment but I'd like to get a bit more if possible (without buying a Golf R before anyone says it...)

I've been told its not possible without spending £000s so I'm putting it out there

Do Darkside developments do any turbo/injector kits yet for the TDI 184?

I know there is quite a tuning market for the old 1.9 PD TDI's there are those that exist with 400/500hp!

I'd suggest the turbo and injectors are likely your main points of limitation now.....the CR pump is mega high pressure anyway.

Bit off topic. Who did your custom remap?

Ecotech Performance in Deeside, it was the first ever one he did about 2 years ago. He gave me a rolling road printout showing 230bhp and since then its had the exhaust and air filter uprated, so I'm guessing its about 240 now.

Ok thanks, I'll have a look into it. I think 300 would be sufficient if I can get to that, although I said 230 would be plenty when I first got it...

I don't think you will get in anymore than you have. I think your proberly getting about 233 tops if your lucky. Overall an exhaust may add 3bhp and a filter won't add anything. Even looking at a dpf and egr delete may only add another couple of but its not worth it not doing that as it will ruin the car in more ways than one.

There is only so much you can do for a diesal car in performance and you have hit the limit. Look at any car make and you won't find much in terms of aftermarket performance mods

Yeah that's what I've been told whenever I've asked but I was just wondering if anyone on here had any experience of going a bit higher. As pipsysp said up there people have managed to get big power out of older generation golf diesels so why not the Mk7? I'm no expert on diesel engines so was genuinely curious.

I'd think the tuning path would be very similar to the older diesels.
Big turbo, big injectors, DPF delete, remap to suit.

Lots of money for more wheel spin. I struggle now with just a remap.

You're probably right, but I've been in Wales this week driving some of the wonderful A roads around Snowdonia. The car is great on these roads and handles really well but occasionally feels like it could do with a bit more power. Wheelspin isn't really an issue on these type of roads but I agree in normal day to day driving around the city more power would be pretty pointless and would just result in more wheelspin.

You'll need to go with uprated injectors and a hybrid garrett bi-turbo. You'll get upwards of 250bhp. Darkside, as mentioned, did earlier ones. I pinged them a few months back and they hadn't completed a MK7 kit/ upgrade at that time.
