I wonder if the dude with the Honda Fit is going to stop by and ask about what the Mk8's reliability will be in five years.

Aaaaannnnnd they are all recalled and on stop sale with electronic problems - primarily with the CAR-NET equivalent. Sine accident notification is mandated in Europe, this defect means they can't be sold until the problem is resolved.

VW offered 2019 Rabbit trim loaded with equipment for Canada and sells the stripped down version in US. I cant wrap my head on decisions taken by VWoA in many instances. But just like Henry Ford's comment (Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black), we have to be happy until they give us anything in the form of GTI / R.

If you track or autocross, you're happy we got a stripped version.

DCC, fender audio, adaptive cruise control, bigger infotainment screen and dual zone cc might have zero or very minimal impact to lap timing.

Weight is weight. A couple thousandths of a second is significant in autocross.

DCC, meh, doesn't matter if you're going to replace with coils.

The standard screen is just fine and has real buttons.

The stock speakers suck, but so do the fender speakers. Some inexpensive JL C1's and adding a powered sub sounds better.

I have dual zone climate in my wife's car, it's always synced, so waste of money.

Only thing I miss is the ACC.

GTI isnt a track focused vehicle but just a performance version of a mass produced hatch. If one is particular about weight savings or lap timings, there are lot of other stuff to be considered than the features mentioned above.

Different people have different priorities. In my case, Canadian Rabbit would have been a perfect one and this has been echoed in several other discussion as well.

The Canadian is a great package if you're staying stock. With a few mods I was going to do anyway, I'm happy without those options.

what VJ says....."Different people have different priorities" I like the upgraded lights and differential that came on my 17 Sport. It had a decent stereo I improved with Helix. The key-less is a feature I like but I'm not one for bells & whistles. Other folks want a lot of options it's all good.

I'm always happy to have a car with no sunroof the lack of sunroof is an asset. I'd be happy to have a testla style glass roof I guess but, eh. I would like to have a back camera though, main thing I miss by having a 2015 S model. My favorite thing missing on VW products though is 4 tire pressure monitoring sensors(tpms), god thank you VW for not installing them.
We need to make a long list of items manufacturers should leave off of cars.

Looks like VW is still not giving us a forged 4 piston brake caliper  And I believe this is an R.
