Hi, anyone have an idea what may be causing a clicking wind-up noise (from the transmission) almost like a bycicle freewheel occuring when driving ? The noise also last a few seconds when in neutral for a few moments. First mechanic is stumped, said pehaps a regular manual transmission fluid change may fix the problem.

Did you have any work done on your car recently? Suspension replaced/upgraded or any other front end work?

I'm not the best to ask for this, but from what I know, you usually do this when changing out your clutch, so it is pretty involved. Mechanic should be able to diagnose before going down that rabbit hole.

But rereading your post, seems like the noise is present more when you engage clutch. When you press down on clutch it goes away.

Should be the opposite for TOB.

Noise starts indeed when the clutch is engaged and for a short while when pressing down before stopping.

I am no longer thinking this is a transmission issue but an engine problem. ECP light has been showing intermittently and I have a Turbocharger error (obd11 reading) with a fault code P00AF00. The reason I am no longer thinking that it's the transmission is that the noise appears when reving in neutral. Here's a link to hear it (sorry for the image but it's the noise thats more important) - you'll hear the thrashing noise more on the winding down

Oh, I think what you're hearing is normal. I'm pretty sure it's the fuel injectors, they just sound like that, it's fine. The EPC light seems like looking into though.
