Hello everyone.
I am working on Steering wheel swap.

Main goal is to retrofit MK8 touch steering wheel.
But for now i am going to fit in the R/GTI steering wheel.
Could anyone give me an info what is the “VIEW” button for ? I dont have AID but the premium analog display.
and i dont know what is the function for this button.

View is as you mentioned, for the different views available on the AID. If you don't have AID the button will not have a function.
As for Mk8 steering wheel retrofit (which I am considering), I know a little bit but probably not everything you will need...

3Q0 Gateway Module - PN 3Q0 907 530 xx (depending on what your car already has, 530 AG is what I will be getting for my car)
Clock Spring (only if you want a heated Mk8 wheel) - PN unknown, need to research this
KLR module - PN 5H0 959 542 x (I have not seen a wheel for sale that did not include this)
Airbag - PN 5H0880201G (The Atlas airbag, PN 3CM880201GXEA has a different logo that looks better to me and probably the same plug, but not 100%)

Thanks for your help.
Base model of the steering wheel should be a direct swap. If you dont have ACC. The seller told me in case i have ACC i need to change the GW to 3Q0.
So if i chose touch mfsw i need as you wrote. New GW, Clock spring, airbag(i have checked the original airbag wont fit. Mk7 Gti and R have the same airbag as the Highline or Base model.) If it wasnt for the CP it would be a great fit.
Only thing that bothers me is the view button not doing anything 😏

Everything I've read about switching/retrofitting MFSW suggests the View button is for the AID. If you find out differently please come back in the thread and let us know what the button does for you. The more info that's out there the better.

So what i have found out. Not personal experience. But even the vw Polo have the view button and it have an analog cluster. Only thing to do is to try it.
I was talking to a seller of the mk8 steering wheel touchscreen one
It is a direct swap. If you don’t have and don’t want use Acc and Heated steering wheel option.

In response to the VIEW button, the 2021 Mk7.5 GTI in North America didn't come with AID and the VIEW button works to switch between information displayed on the MFD in between the analog clusters

Thanks that was the info i needed 🙂
So the View button will work, but you need to sacrifice the (Call Button).
Even if you upgrade to the MK8 steering wheel it will work. That is great.

I wish to do the same thing: swap the steering wheel of my Golf Mk7 (...like the one in ericek565's photo) to the 7.5 GTI/R steering wheel. I have ACC but no heating, and no flaps (...manual gearbox). Can someone tell me which codes I need? Are those parts needed, original VW parts, or 3rd party ones? Thank you very much!

@Deff To be clear, you just want to switch from a Golf wheel to a GTI/R wheel (round airbag), is that correct?

If yes, you just need the Steering Wheel (for manual cars), the airbag (round) and the right buttons. Everything will plug right in. If you pick up a used a wheel it may come with buttons.

New steering wheels are somewhat expensive, but do come with buttons. Of course, that makes finding the exact part number more difficult.

The Mk7 and Mk7.5 have the same steering wheels. Mk8 is when the steering wheel changes.

Yes, that's correct: from Golf wheel to a GTI/R wheel (round airbag).
So I basically need to find the right VW P/N for the steering wheel that comes with the right combination of buttons: the same buttons I have on my current steering wheel. Is that correct?

Yes... I do sincerely wish you luck in finding the part number you need and at a decent price (assuming you care about the price, but maybe you don't, haha).

MSRP on the wheels is going to be around $900, though you could probably find them around $750. That is without airbag of course.

I would be inclined to buy a used wheel (even if you have to get it re-covered) and then buttons separately. Then you need an airbag of course.

Have you considered an AliExpress wheel? Even if you go OEM like (no carbon fiber or anything) you could get a new and better feeling wheel.

I'm not in a hurry to swap my steering wheel, I care a about my wallet, and yes indeed: 2nd hand seems to be the most sensible choice...even though finding the right combination of buttons is not the easiest thing in the world...and most of them have an exploded airbag, so that definitely needs to be included in the bill. I have found 2nd hand (genuine VW) steering wheels as low as £ 125 over here (...without airbag). Aliexpress? No thanks, there's too much to wait and what you get can be a bit of "a surprise"...so I prefer to opt for "made in Germany" in this case.
Obviously most of the 2nd hand wheels come with "shift paddles"...I think manual GTIs and Rs are not very common...most of their users maybe prefer DSG. Interestingly enough, I've seen people "adding" buttons and features to their wheels, but now I wonder if those shifting pads can be removed (...including the relative switches) and if the connection to a 'non-shift pads' car can still be be made...awww and maybe resell those pads and switches for a profit? (LOL)
