A cop who wasn’t familiar with the law? Color me surprised

If you want to see a saga of a guy dealing with a cop who wasn't familiar with the law

If you don't want to go through the whole thing, just watch the 2 minute video in the first post to see a moronic officer who has no idea what he's talking about. Feel bad for the guy, it's now been 5 months, and he still hasn't been able to get his car back on the road.

tl;dr summary: Cop pulls a guy over in a bone stock Elantra N for having the exhaust in Sport mode. Suspends his registration, sends him to get it inspected. Inspection station tests his car "wrong". By the books, it should be tested in the default mode when you start the car, they tested it in Sport mode. It fails, and can't be re-tested until he provides proof it is fixed. Goes to Hyundai, they can't give him any "proof" that is sufficient, since there is nothing to fix, the car is stock. Registration stays suspended. Hired a lawyer, court date next month.

Looking to pick up an Injen Evolution. Found a good deal and been wanting to go back to a closed system (R600 was the first choice). Anyone run a different filter than the Injen one?

There's a gray area within that, with exhausts at least. Something to the effect of "A) it's illegal to modify your exhaust, period. B) However, as long as it complies with current emissions, you can use non-factory equipment."

I took this to court, humiliated the cop in front of the judge, and had my entire ticket dismissed. Note, this was probably 16 years ago on an OBD1 car.
The gray area (as far as my understanding goes) is that the exhaust modifications are only legal if no modification to the emissions system have been made (though now they will also cite you for too loud of an exhaust). Any modification to emissions must have a CARB EO number in order to be legal, regardless of testing numbers.

Legit would of told the cop to leave me the F alone, car is stock and legal for sale in the US. He can quit crying and go find a real reason to write a ticket.

I swapped GTI PP brakes onto my GSW TDI last year. It’s time to buy pads finally. So happy to get rid of these ultra dusty OEMs. So I should be shopping online for Golf R pads, correct?

Looking at EBC Reds, Hawk Ceramic, iSweep 1500s. Any other ones maybe I should consider?

Long shot here, but actually had a similar issue on my Camaro (metallic ping / clunk) on heavy cornering or broken surfaces, only heard it with windows down though, so not super loud. Turned out to be the mating surface where the wheel meets the hub, even found a tsb on it. Removed wheels, cleaned both surfaces, wheels back on and torqued and it was gone.
Cleaned the studs, hub and inside of the lug nuts. Removed spacer and still get the sound. I did a "bounce test" and I think its the shock/sway bar link. The nuts holding them on are tight, but I swear when I grabbed it it moved a little. Could not replicate though, but there is a really light tick when I bounce on that side. Already ordered/received the kit so I guess I'll put it on when I do my brakes in a couple weeks.

I saw that video. It’s infuriating to watch.
