When I thread the bolts that hold the coil packs down, I can feel some of them not going down easily and getting hung up on the threads. Is there an alternative bolt that can be used or do I just keep using the OEM bolts knowing that helicoil is in my future?

It's M6x1.0 thread. You can get some bolts to hold down the coil, but you need an alternate grounding solution. Of if you can find some M6x1.0 double ended studs, you could put those in, and just use nuts to hold it down and the ground.

My 2015 is leaking oil. Dealer claims the seal is leaking from inside and has quoted $644 + tax for the repair. I'm under vw's extended warranty for another 2 years but the dealer claims that the leak is wear and tear and wont be covered. Am I being unreasonable for pushing to get it covered under warranty? Car is fully stock and there is no damage or impact to the actual oil pan.

My driver side cornering light bulb went out and so I replaced it. Not sure what I did wrong but the main headlights now flicker on and off intermittently. Could it be something I did? I opened the little black circle and everything looks nice and tight. Any clues?
In case anyone was wondering about this, turns out the bulbs had gone bad. Replaced them and the problem went away.

Is the leak from the oil pan seal?
If so, this should definitely be a warranty repair. $644 also sounds way too high for that particular repair. It should be like 3 shop hours and a gasket. They're looking to take you for a ride.

That's what they said and they are definitely taking me for a ride. Happy to have the extended warranty but unfortunately that means I have to deal with the dealer rather than my independent VW specialist that is much much better. Other charges in this estimate include

$1287+tax for carbon cleaning - Independent VW garage charges about 400 for this IIRC
$81.80+tax for a new air filter
$84.80+tax for a new cabin filter

I replaced both filters myself in 10 minutes for about $15 each 6 months ago so I know they're making the whole thing up.

Outrageous for carbon cleaning. And for the filters.

My VW dealership told me my car despeartely needed a new cabin filter. Since I had put in a new one maybe three months beforehand, I told them to pound sand. As if I already didn't trust them...

lol exact same situation as me except i keep playing dumb and they keep giving me all this ridiculous advice. Feel really bad for the average customer that gets duped by them everyday. In the meantime I’ve contacted vw canada hoping to get some clarity as to why my oil leak isnt being fixed under warranty. lets see what they say.

What is the part number for the silicone coolant hose that goes over the airbox? The one that is usually replaced with those "reroute" kits that go underneath intakes so it looks cooler. I've tried Googling, and my skills are failing me.

Stupid question. But are there wheel bearings on the rear wheels?
I’ve only seen vids showing replacing the fronts.
Process for changing fronts same for the rears if rears have them?

Changing out front brakes and rotors this weekend. Looks pretty straightforward. Any tips or gotchas to look out for? I got some extra rotor set screws and some brake grease. Does my 2015 have the brake wear sensor (I read it doesn’t)?

Mine didn't. Honestly changing pads and rotors were super easy for me. One tip is to make sure you fully turn the wheels towards the sign you are changing. Will give you a lot more room for you to work with and stick a breaker bar in.

Good tip, thanks. Fronts look simple. Will need to rent a tool for the rears the following weekend.
