Yeah I doubt the one I went to had a Lambo/Ferrari guy. I saw one car lifted up on 4 floor jacks.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they used a 2x4 to change the tires
Actually they do use 4 jacks on cars that have plastic (carbon on expensive cars) covers on the bottom. They did this on my 1LE and do on the GTI, a lot of complains of broken shields on the bottom of the car with the cheap center lifts. They should be using blocks on all corners (or pinch weld blocks) and they don't with the center lifts.

Has anyone used one of this coolant funnels? looked at a few online and can't find if they will work on the GTI.

I really wanted to get the vacuum/refill tool, like the Mishimoto one, but I haven't had a chance to run the power for my compressor.

I've used one, different brand same product I think. Humblemechanic recommended it in his water pump video. No issues with fitment

When I did my waterpump like 8 months ago I bought and used this one from harbor freight and can confirm the adapter with female threads fits the vw reservoirs perfect. The setup was ideal so I could fill the res, then put that inside plug thing inside the funnel while I let the car get to temp and open the tstat then lifted the plug to top off the tank, then with that plug in you can remove the funnel with all the extra coolant in it and not spill or make a mess.

Looking at the Amazon one you linked atleast image wise it doesn’t have the right adapter for our tanks.

Also on the same type of subject - this oil one from HF also has the right adapter in the kit for our cars 😅

Anyone know the part number for the rear exhaust hanger bolts? No clue how one yeeted itself out into the world, but it did. But hey, on the bright side, I think I've found where the clunking that I couldn't pinpoint is coming from.

Found a water bubble under the clear coat of my front bumper. Popped and drained. Can I just spray 2K clear over it, or will it look like total a$$? Better than a giant section of clear missing right? I don't want to spray/repaint. I'm cheap.

Probably be ok to just try that but maybe refinish it properly?
If it’s just the clear coat a light sanding then clear and buff.
Was this repainted recently?
If it’s all the way down to the primer it’s not that difficult to get a decent paint match with a rattle can. Depending on the extent of the damage I’d probably remove the cover and respray the whole bumper.
Just need to be sure how far the damage goes.

Thanks AJ, a little to late as I order the one from Amazon. It doesn't have the threads, but the larger plug actually fits in the hole of the reservoir pretty tight. I was able to leave it on with the engine running and it didn't move at all.

Sadly, I have a leak somewhere else. I am guessing at this point that it may be the water pump. I had a slow leak since around 30k miles, I had to refill around every 6 months or more. Now I have to top it off almost daily. It looked as if it was the lower radiator output, but I replaced the plastic adapter with a new one Saturday and the leak continues. Only that side of the radiator gets wet, I don't see any leak anywhere else. I tried to look from underneath the car when I had it on the lift and didn't see any white residue near the pump. Sucks!

At this point I guess I may take it to a radiator shop or the dealer to diagnose, I received a letter for the water pump about a year ago so hopefully the dealer will honor that and fix it. I doubt it as I am almost at 90k now.

They wouldn't cover me at 7 yrs and 80,100 miles. Times are tough.

Yeah, not holding my breath with them at all... I had the car for almost 4 years now, I just have a long commute to work. I'm probably going to try the radiator shop first to see if they can pinpoint the location of the leak. I know I can change the water pump myself, finding the time is what's difficult.
