Oh I did one of those a while back they are very cool looking. (before it was like a mk8 and just a driving lights light bar lol), while it did remove mine to install and drill the holes if I recall I think you “could” do it all with it in place and some fishing work. I wrapped them with 2 layers of black tint to hide them when they where off and it helped diffuse these leds to match the headlights.

May have to tint it myself when I get it on eventually, that looks way nicer.

Their video says taking off to drill thry for wiring but I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard fishing everything thru, might consider that if removing the grille is that big of a PITA.

So managed to get a decent size crack (~8") long on the windshield of the wife's Atlas during a recent ice storm.

Can or should a crack be repaired?
If not should I get VW OEM glass or is there a good alternative?

No matter what Safelite will not be involved.

Too long to be repaired. Definitely going to need a new windshield. OEM is the best way to go. See if you can order through the dealership and who they use as an installer. Hopefully not safelite.

Thing is the crack will just continue to grow. Your insurance company should cover it after the deductible. I just checked prices, $700+ from stealer. Damn, you can do better than that. I’ve had this done on a few cars and frankly just take it to a trusted independent shop and review the options. They should be able to get you anything from dealer to good quality aftermarket

Mine covered it under comprehensive ($500 deductible.) OEM was a little under $700 + $200 for install. The max they’d cover was like $950 so snuck in just under. (GEICO)

Our new Atlas suffered a thrown rock from an 18 wheeler about a month ago. Despite being crazy loud when it hit, it only made a star shaped crack. Insurance covered the repair and they sent a Safelite guy lol. He did a flawless repair and gave me a full bottle of their glass cleaner.

Thanks for the recommendation. I am interested. Was looking at a KW street comfort coil over kit. So instead if I go with Koni, can I put together a coil over kit with the front and rear with VWR sport springs and a suspension install kit? I’m just wondering if there are some special components in a coil over kit that I would be missing by getting things piecemeal.

front = 2 x KON-8245-1326
springs = VWR r-line sport

rear = 2 x KON-8745-1324
springs = VWR r-line sport

I can order the ultimate suspension kit from ShopDAP to get the rest of the parts, bushings, mounts, bolts and nuts.
